Have you wondered what Barney is doing these days? I think I found out
today while listening to the radio. There was a report on the news that a
guard in a Federal Building of some sort accidentally shot off his gun in
the bathroom while practicing taking it out of its holster. To quote Fred

In the episode where Barney and Andy are hunting the infamous Ralph Neal,
Barney has been training a dog called Blue. At the end of the episode when Neal
has Andy and Barney captured and is about to take them hostage in the squad
car, he looks around and says, Where's Blue?

This has probably been mentioned before, but I wondered about the mayor
wearing a tie to go fishing on The Bed Jacket episode. Isn't that a tad bit
too formal for the fishin' hole? (Or maybe those fish are voters - who
knows? We don't know how Old Sam would vote - how he votes is his
The episode I remember Andy mentioning being overseas was A Feud is a Feud.
Andy was explaining the rules of a duel to Mr. Carter and Mr. Wakefield and at
some point during the attempted duel says, I learned a little French while I
was over there during the war. What I find really humorous
It's hot here in central Illinois and I'm sitting here in air conditioning in
shorts. That got me to thinking about how many Maybarrians we ever saw wearing
shorts. I can think of two scenes Howard on the island and the matching shorts
sets Aunt Bee bought for Andy and Opie for their California
We had the pleasure of dining at the Mayberry Cafe in Danville, Indiana
yesterday afternoon on our way through the area (OK, it was our lunchtime
destination driving back from vacation). We got to town before they opened and
were walking around the square when we met some other out of town
In A Feud is a Feud Andy says, when the two fellas refuse to pace off, that
since feuds originated in France, the countoff should be in French. Andy says,
I just happened to pick up a little French when I was there during the war and
begins to count in French.

FEUD IS A FUED in the first season. He said it while he was trying to get Mr.
Wakefield and Mr. Carter to shoot at each other, I believe. There may have
been another reference to it in anothe episode, I am not
I can attest that those long sleeve uniforms are indeed very uncomfortable
in hot weather. I put mine on one hot humid day for just a few minutes to
have some pictures taken outside and believe me I was glad to get it off
after fifteen minutes. The only time I can ever remember Andy sweating
I few months back I contacted a relative of one of TAGS regular guests, Bob
McQuain. As it turns out she is a cousin to Bob. I thought you all may like
to see what she wrote back to me.
Hi Ray,
Yes, I am related to Bob McQuain. He was my second cousin. (My father and
him were first cousins.)
Got to thinking today. How can you tell you are watching an episode from the
first season of Andy. A few ways:
1. Floyd has gray hair
2. Aunt Bea weighs less than in any other season
3. Andy acts sillier than in any other season
4. Mayberry has an undertaker
5. Mayberry has a
