Dewey,   One of the products I remember being mentioned was in the Barney's First Car episode.  As he was looking through the want ads he mentioned a Hudson Terraplane (lots of good miles left in the rubber).  With the popularity of TAGS, I'm sure Hudson sales skyrocketed all over the U.S.

My theory is the town council cut it down by mistake when the people from Hollywood came to make a picture. My hometown newspaper did a very very nice story about my growing up in a small town and how it got me interested in Mayberry. It made the front page with a picture of me in my uniform.
