Hi Ted,
I must say that you made me smile...TWICE!!!
First, the Age Before Beauty question made me remember the way my Mother would
enter a room after my Dad, but not until playfully saying Age before beauty.
She would chuckle, Dad would grumble a little and smile. Funny thing though.

I would like to thank all the member's (especially Allan, for his hard work)
for making the WBMUTBB digest an enjoyable part of my day. I love talking and
reading about TAGS and have met many cyber friends like Ken, Dewey, Larry and

I had a Mayberryish sighting recently. I was in the town of Flower Mound,
TX and saw Floyd's Barber Shop. It looked big and modern on the outside
so I'm sure it was a two chair establishment. I didn't get to go inside to
see if anyone was playing checkers or sleeping though.

I agree that a competent teacher like Miss Crump wouldn't make too many
mistakes that large! But if a teacher did that today, the parents would
probably sue the teacher, the school, the principal, and the entire school
system!!! Ah, how I long for the good old days!!!

Goober mentioned going fishing in the Warrior River once..I think he talked
about it in the episode with Old Sam.

I'm thinking you're asking this with
Having been an elementary teacher for 36 years I can understand how Miss
Crump may have made a mistake in transposing her grades, but she made a far
bigger mistake in not telling Andy about it herself. To simply call Opie up
to her desk in front of all the other students and tell him he didn't
My grandmother (our Aunt Bee) used to say that when we kids got wound up:
you youngun's have got the squidgets, now settle down before I lose my
mind! There were 7 of us and we did indeed get to making a lot of racket
once Mama and Daddy were gone shopping. God bless her for her patience!

I was watching the Marx Brothers 1933 movie Duck Soup and was a bit startled
when I saw them doing the disconnected motorcycle/sidecar stunt. I knew I had
seen Andy and Barney do it but now wondering if anyone on screen had done it
previous to the Marx Brothers.

Dear Club,
Here are 2 ideas that the writers of the show never conceived:
a dramatic Mt. Pilot spinoff
an encounter between Mayberry and Hooterville.

Turly,
This was an expression my Aunt Lel used, too. I think it simply means let the
older folk go firts assuming that the younger ones are prettier.
