I, too, have always wondered why Andy and Mary would leave a nice fire and relaxing evening and all of a sudden decide to go for a ride. Just didn't make sense to me. Also, Andy smoking in bed and allowing Opie to ride along in the squad car when going after a criminal. No seat belts, of course.
