I hope everyone at Mayberry Day's has a wonderful time.  Have a pork-chop
sandwich for me.  One day maybe I'll be there with everyone and have a
great weekend.

Ken when you where you can't walk anymore in the parades, use a scooter of
some sort.  You can then decorate the scooter with the Mayberry sheriff's
decal just like the squad car and still enjoy the parade.  This is just a
suggestion.

Denver Pyle

GetTV in Nashville has been showing Grizzly Adams lately and Denver Pyle is
on every episode as Mad Jack.   It is so nice to see him as a mountain man.
  Ken Berry was on one episode and the State policeman from the second
episode of TAGS.  There were several more but I can't think of who they are
right now.

Otis

While watching NCIS Los Angeles, Sunday night, Callen goes to the boat of
Sam Hannah and sees a seal named OTIS.  The seal is a animal seal not a
Navy SEAL.  Callen asked Sam if he gave the seal whiskey to drink and he
said no, Otis only drinks beer.  When they come off the boat Callen says to
Otis you ought to be ashamed of yourself and then the seal belches.  It
just reminded me our TAGS Otis coming into the jail tipsy.

This past Saturday night on 'The Addams Family', saw alumni from TAGS, Vito
Scotti (Mr.Murrillos) ,  and Stanley Adams (Frank Campbell).

Watched the Carol Burnett anniversary show.
It showed Ken Berry kissing Carol.
A picture of Andy Griffith.
Carol spoke of how Jim Nabors was on her show and how she was going to miss
him.

Antenna TV shows the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson.Burt Mustin
was on the show.he sure could make Johnny laugh.

TAGS people

Ruta Lee was on two episodes of TAGS, one as that college kid and the other
as Darlene Mason.
Last week while watching an old game show a commercial was shown with Ruta
Lee using the hair-spray product.  She didn't say anything, but you knew is
was her.

Saturday the Decades channel showed Gomer Pyle, USMC.   I watched several
episodes, one where Gomer was getting a tattoo,  Sgt. Hacker made a bet
with Sgt. Carter about his temperand trying not to blow his top,  the
last one was when Gomer goes home with an older lady and she cooks dinner
for him.

Everyone needs to read the articles written by Jim Clark, about Jim Nabors
and Rance Howard.  They made me cry.

While watching 'The Joey Bishop', 1961, show this morning on Antenna TV,
Jean Carson, hello doll, was on the show.
Jean played a secretary on the show named Marge.
It was easy to recognize the voice, but not the face at first.  She had
light brown hair instead of blonde hair.

Could it be that the Ladies Garden club was meeting at Clara's home. So no
hat required for Clara, but the ladies visiting wore hats.

I looked it up on Internet Movie Database that Ron's first acting job was
in 1956 on Frontier Woman in a bit part.  I thought his first job was on
Make Room for Daddy.

Helen.

 Eau Claire Olympian Ben Loomis finished 41st out of 47 competitors
Wednesday in the first Nordic Combined event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in
Pyeongchang, South Korea.

First episode today had Andy Clyde (Frank Myers) on it.
Second episode had Reta Shaw (Elenora Poultice) and Alice Backes (Olive-
the widow), I recognized her by her voice. Also in this episode the outside
back door was used as the Taylor's back door when Opie had the imaginary
horse Blackie.

Jacob,

I knew that 'The Real McCoys' was filmed on the 40 Acre Lot. My question
was could I count Dick Crenna as an alumni of TAGS, even though he was
never on the show, he just directed some episodes.

Gone With the Wind, TAGS, The Real McCoys, Superman, Gomer Pyle-USMC, Star
Trek and others were filmed on that famous lot.

Aunt Pittypats house from GWTW is the house next door to the Taylor's and
is also used in the 'Haunted House' episode.

While watching an episode of 'The Real McCoys' this morning.
Noticed that when Luke and Pepino were going into the bus station, that the
station was the diner that Bobby Fleet and the boys were in when Andy and
Barney walked in. Also you could see the Grand Theater out the door and Mr.
Foley's market through the window and part of Floyd's Barber Shop.

Alumni from the show was Dub Taylor and Andy Clyde.
Would Dick Crenna be alumni even though he wasn't on the show, but did
direct some of TAGS?

She did play on 'Good Morning, World' as Sandy Kramer, the girlfriend of
Larry Clarke, TAGS' on Ronnie Schell.

playing Jerry Carroll, not a very nice guy.

Alumni sightings on 'The Real McCoys', two in one episode.  Lurene Tuttle
(Annabelle Silby and shoplifter), and Isabel Randolph (Harriet Bixby and
Mrs. Jeffries), played sisters on this episode.
The McCoys barn looked like Rafe Hollister's and Mr. Flint's.

(Colonel Harvey) and Emory Parnell (Helen's Uncle Albert and a juror).
I also noticed some of the writer's are the same as TAGS.
Amos has a habit of telling Luke to 'Nip it in the bud'. Makes me laugh
hearing him say that and thinking of Barney.

Friday had several alumni sightings. I had a triple, triple, single.
The Joey Bishop Show had Charles Lane, Mary Treen, Richard Keith aka Keith
Thibodeaux.
Bewitched had Mabel Albertson, Roy Roberts, and Ruth McDevitt.
The Real McCoys had Jon Lormer.

Not sure what day that Olan Soule and J. Pat O'Malley were on The Real
McCoys.

Love watching old shows and seeing Mayberry friends.

Also a sad day on the death of Burt Reynolds. He was friends with our own
James Best.

Citizen's Arrest

Mr. Wimberly, Barney didn't say the quote, it was Gomer.  The episode was
Citizen's Arrest.  Gomer tells Barney “You just go up an alley and holler
fish.”   This was after Barney gave Gomer a ticket for making a U-Turn.
 Not sure what it means.

painful to Andy, actually the shingles were Andy's.  Feel better soon Ken.

Watching Gomer Pyle, USMC last night on MeTV, this is the one where Gomer
had a garden patch on the base.  Sgt. Carter put vodka in a watermelon and
the guests at the Colonel's house ate the watermelon and got a little happy
according to the Colonel.  Reminds me of Colonel Harvey's elixir and the
ladies getting gassed.

and Joyce Jameson.
I recognized Mr. Taylor right away, but I didn't know it was Ms. Jameson
until the credits.  She played a saloon girl with dark hair.

Paul Mulik asked a question a few weeks ago on one of the FaceBook sites
about Amzie Strickland.  The question was about what she bought after the
first time of being on TAGS.  I never did see the answer.  So Paul could
you please tell WBMUTBB the answer.

Oscars

Watched the Oscars Sunday night.

The In Memoriam did not include everybody.
The ones I noticed were TAGS people:  Rance Howard, Don Rickles and Harry
Dean Stanton - proprietor in "Howard's New Life".

Another actor Wes Studi was talking about war films and that he had been in
the military.  No he never was on TAGS, but his father-in-law was Jack
Albertson who played Bradford Taylor.  Mr. Albertson's daughter Maura Dhu
Studi is married to Wes Studi.

Hello TAGS fans,

Ken, I enjoyed the article about the candle-stick phone, never used one.
But we used a black rotary phone, boy was it heavy.

Noticed something in 'Barney's First Car' episode the other day.  When Andy
and Barney are standing on the porch, Andy's hair is parted on the left
side as normal. But when they step off the porch Andy's part moved to the
right side. Curious, curious.

missing scenes

Watched Barney's First Car Friday night and noticed two deleted scenes. The
first was Andy and Barney talking on the front porch about Barney buying a
septic tank for his parents. The second was Andy and Barney in the car and
Barney asking Andy if he could put his bullet in and Andy says 'I think you
better'.
I wish they wouldn't delete scenes.

Doorbells

Aunt Bee rings the doorbell on the first episode, 'The New Housekeeper'.

All the girls coming over to Andy's in 'A Wife for Andy'. In the same
episode Andy says that's the back doorbell.

In 'Barney's Replacement', Barney rings Clara's doorbell. You don't hear
the doorbell, you just see Barney touch the buzzer.

In 'The Wedding', Andy, Emmett and Goober ring Howard's doorbell to see his
bachelor pad. Goober rings Howard's doorbell, then Andy and Helen.

Terri Garr was in 'The Wedding', this is the episode where Howard's Mother
gets married and he invites the others over for a house-warming party.

Hello everybody,

Welcome to Tennessee Don Good.
I said this in an earlier post that I live in Davidson County in Tennessee.
The mayor of Nashville is also the county mayor. But there are some small
city mayors inside of Davidson county and city aldermen/women. The city
mayors and aldermen usually don't get along too well with the county mayor.

Scooter the episode you are looking for is 'Andy and Opie's Pal, season 4
episode 14. Barney is talking to Andy about the Apricot Queen.

While watching the episode 'Banjo-playing Deputy', season 5 episode 32, I
noticed something I had never noticed before. When Hope Summers and Mary
Lansing come in to complain about the Sultan's Favorite dance. Andy greets
them as Miss Edwards and Miss Lukens, but in the credits they are listed as
Miss Bedloe and Miss Roundtree. Curious, curious, curious.

Regarding Betty Lynn in 'Cheaper by the Dozen'. Yes the accent was a little
heavy. But for someone born in Kansas City, Missouri, Betty Lynn, it's not
as bad as someone from New York or California trying to do a Southern
accent. I always thought that the director told her to lay it on thick.
Considering this was her sixth movie, we need to be a little more forgiving.
Since I was bred, born and raised in Nashville, I get to voice my opinion.

The scene in the Christmas episode where Opie's hair is full of static has
always made me laugh.
Opie is also pulling his gloves off by using his teeth just like a little
kid.

Woohoo Tuttle's is back. JL-327 is the tag number for the squad car.

Matthew McConaughey's new commercial for Lincoln does have a reference to
TAGS.
The theme song for TAGS is playing, plus he is fishing. Ice-fishing, but
still fishing.
I saw the commercial while watching the Winter Classic, ice-hockey, on New
Year's day.

At one time they say Andy's favorite dish is leg of lamb.
Then in another episode it is fried chicken.

Mr. Mease there is no mention of what happened to Andy's parents or his
wife in the show. One time Aunt Bee mentions the attic has furniture in it
that belonged to Andy's parents. (Wish I could remember which episode.)

While watching The Waltons on Friday noticed two alumni from TAGS.
The episode was called The Remembrance, season 8 episode 18, 1980.
Woodrow Chambliss who played Orville Hendricks and Harlan Robinson on
TAGSplayed Zadok Walton. Knew who it was by his voice. He had a beard
and long white hair.
Ross Elliott who played Tom Wilson and Al Saunders on TAGSplayed
Colonel Usselbury.
He looked the same but older.

Clara Edwards/Johnson silent times

Elizabeth in Ga when Clara was showing Andy her blue ribbons for making
pickles, she called her husband 'Mr. Johnson'.
The writer's back then never thought we would still be discussing the show
60 years later.
Side note I have a friend who's last name is Smith and he married a girl
whose maiden name was Smith. They lived three or four counties apart
before they met. They didn't meet until college.

A silent time is when Opie is trying to get into the old mine and it
collapses. Opie just gets up and brushes his pants and kind of shakes the
dust out of his hair.

did.
Boneless porkchop baked, tomato, cheese on a large biscuit.

My memory is okay these days.
The day I was writing the e-mail I just happened to be talking to my sister
who is a huge TAGS fan.
I already had several shows listed for the smoking, revolver and tie, then
I asked her and she gave me more.

Sorry for all that added information in my last post.
Steve from Roanoke, VA, I was just about to send a post concerning the
governor's car and the post office. In this scene the postal worker walks
down some steps.
In the episode with Melissa Stevens no steps are seen at the post office.

Andy smoked after helping deliver the baby in the episode 'Quiet Sam'.
He smoked on the porch in 'Prisoner of Love'.
He smoked the house in 'High Noon in Mayberry'.
Andy comes down the steps after not whipping Opie, 'Mr. McBeevee'.

Andy wears his revolver in the episode 'Barney Gets His Man', 'Aunt Bee the
Warden', 'The Big House', 'The Manhunt', 'A Feud is A Feud', and 'The Lucky
Letter'.
Andy wears a tie in 'The Inspector', The Lucky Letter', 'Barney's
Physical', and 'Andy's English Valet'.

Post Office

No episode showing the inside of the Post Office.
But we did see the outside in 'Barney on the Rebound', this is when Barney
escorts Melissa Stevens inside.
In the episode 'The Guitar Player', Dub Taylor plays Talbot the postman.
Talbot and Barney are talking about wanted posters in the courthouse.
In the episode 'High Noon in Mayberry'. Dub Taylor plays Billy Ray the
postman. There is a mail-slot on the courthouse door under the Justice of
the Peace sign.

Sheriff Andy Taylor  : [Billy
Ray is delivering mail to the courthouse]  I'll take it Billy Ray.

Billy Ray, the Postman  : Oh
no you don't. The mail must go through.

Sheriff Andy Taylor  : But
I'm standing right here. Hand it to me Billy Ray.

In the episode 'Aunt Bee's Brief Encounter', Doodles Weaver plays Geroge
Bricker, a postman. He is the one that tells Andy that Mr. Wheeler's hands
are soft.

They were always getting mail at the courthouse and at the Taylor home.
Otis even received mail at the courthouse from his sister-in-law, once.
Floyd got mail from Madeline Grayson at the barber shop.

Alumni sighting

In the movie "Niagara" mentioned by Joe from G.I., he missed a sighting.
Lurene Tuttle who played Annabelle Silby and the lady shop-lifter, the one
who shouldn't clank, was near the opening of the movie. She and her husband
are staying at the motel, because he won the trip from work.
I've mentioned this movie before and about the sightings several years ago.

I've been watching The Waltons again after not seeing them for years. A lot
of alumni sightings on that show. This alumni was in every episode of TAGS
and never flubbed its lines. It is the fallen down tree that Andy and Opie
pass on the way to fish at the beginning of each show. While watching The
Waltons episode called "The Collision". John-boy is sitting on the tree and
then he uses it as protection from a girl and her horse who are jumping the
tree.

I spotted Ellen Corby aka Myrt 'Hubcaps' Lesh in the movie 'I Remember
Mama' from 1948. She played Aunt Trina. I didn't get to watch the whole
movie. But I will the next time it comes on.

Suzanne Cupito aka Morgan Brittany played on TAGS, Opie's First Love as
Mary Alice Carter. I spotted her on My Three Sons as Jeannie Hill in the
episode called Daughter for A Day. She was around 8 years old at the time.
Even though it was a B/W episode you could tell she had very blue eyes. She
played three different characters on My Three Sons.

Frank Gerstle who played Dirksen on The Manhunt episode of TAGS. He played
the helicopter pilot on the I Love Lucy episode Bon Voyage. Not sure how
many times I've seen that episode and I just noticed it today.

While watching the Odd Couple last week, Clint Howard was on the episode
called The Big Brothers. He liked Oscar more than he did Felix.
Clint was 11 years old when he played on The Odd Couple.

Ellen Corby, Will Geer, Denver Pyle, Mary Jackson and Helen Kleeb on The
Waltons.

Dabbs Greer was on Little House On the Prairie and something else.

I had another sighting, but I can't remember who it was.

British Romance with Lucy Worsley'.
You wouldn't think about a TAGS related song being sung.
The song was "Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms", the song is
sung in 'Rafe Hollister Sings', by Barney and then Rafe finishes the song.
The song was written in 1808 by Irish poet Thomas Moore.
