[libreoffice-website] [Bug 80547] New: BUGZILLAASSISTANT: Page contents telescoped if Browser window width too narrow

The Get Help menu items list at the right edge of the page contents becomes
shifted into the other contents if Browser window width becomes too narrow.

Steps to reproduce:
something what works fine (more or less):
1. go to
   https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/:
on the right of the contents you see a Get Help menu list
with items Feedback, Community support, Documentation and
   so on
2. Decrease Browser Window width
If window width becomes too small in a first step a line
Break will be inserted into menu list items with more than
   1 word
3. Continue decreasing line width on and on
Suddenly menu list will disappear and be trailed
to the other contents. That is not optimal, I would prefer
a horizontal scroll gar in browser, but that is an
   acceptable solution

Now something what does not work fine:
11. Start reporting a Bug on
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/?
Here you also see the menu items list at the right
12. Decrease Browser Window width
If window width becomes too small in a first step a line
Break will be inserted into menu list items with more than
1 word
and
BUG: The Get Help list becomes shifted into the other
 contents (see screenshot)

All the same with FF 30.0, Seamonkey 2.26, IE11

Problem description: Askbot has a facility for users to provide a bit of
information about themselves. Here is a working example from the Askbot site:

http://askbot.org/en/users/1/evgeny/

Notice the correct rendering of paragraphs and links.

On the AskLibreOffice site, the text filter is borked. Compare this example:

http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/users/370/oweng/

I have posted about this on the Askbot forum - and though noted, nothing
seems to have been done about it:

http://askbot.org/en/question/12486/profile-text-field-in-user-profile-filter-fail/

It's a small thing, but untidy and contributes to a sense of shoddiness that
does LibO no favours. Any chance of ensuring this gets some attention? Thanks!

Hi,
the new website has a headings font, that renders č from another font, which
means it is not fully UTF-8 compliant (or there is some other problem with it).

It looks unprofessional to have two different fonts used for different
characters on page headings and subheadings.

I think it's time to remove all alphas, betas and RCs belonging the long time
dead 3.6.x and 4.0.x branches from the bugzilla version dropdown menu.

3.6 all versions and 4.0 all versions items should be created as well.

similar things has been done in the past with 3.3.x, 3.4.x and 3.5.x branch in

If we look at the following web page:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.1#4.1.6_release at the bottom
is text: no more bugfix releases will be created from the 4-0 code branch by
TDF - this is clearly wrong, because it should be 4-1 instead of 4-0.

We can quite be sure if comparing web pages for 4-0:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.0 and 4-2:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.2 where correct branch is
written.

Most probably some copy/paste problem when creating new web page for 4-1.

BSA uninformative error msg

Problem description: The warnings from BSA are confusing. Improve the top
warning message for the following case:

Steps to reproduce:
1. go to https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
2. file a bug and in the field version the bug appeared: select older
versions
3. enter some random title and description
4. submit

Current behavior: see screenshot, BSA gives a red error message at the top
which reads there is no version named older versions in the libreoffice
product.

Expected behavior: While this may be true it's not informative and confusing to
the user.

Easy solution: Duplicate the middle info msg and have it displayed in that red
box:
The Document Foundation is no longer supporting this version of LibreOffice as
it has reached its End of Life. We encourage you to update to a new release and
see if your bug is still present:

Windows
Mac OSX
Ubuntu
Linux (generic)
Otherwise the top warning doesn't provide a solution and users might miss the
info msg in the middle of the page.

Complex solution: Do not allow the user to proceed with BSA, as long as other
versions is selected. That would solve the problem at all and no adjustment of
the top error would be needed since it then never would display.
What I mean is similar to BSA step5 not showing until a title is entered, this
should be the same until a version is selected which is supported.

http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/UX-Advise-f3619688.html
There are a lot of automated messages from Bugzilla. Any given bug tends to
have plenty of these messages; the individual messages all show up as separate
discussion topics in Nabble.

There ought to be a way to have messages about the same bug be automatically
combined into the same thread by Nabble. Currently, someone viewing the Nabble
page has to scan through page after page of bugmails to find only a few
separate discussion topics (both the bugmails, and topics sent directly to the
mailing list).

I looked in the Bugzilla bugtracker (bugzilla.mozilla.org) for activity about
this, and it seems that threadable e-mails are considered a supported feature
of Bugzilla.

[libreoffice-website] [Bug 74480] New: Duplicate meta tags in beta LibreOffice website

LibreOffice's beta redesign website, newdesign.libreoffice.org, has pages with
duplicate meta tags.

A snippet of the beginning of the source code is below: (* denotes the issue I
am talking about):

Browsing to https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla shows very plain HTML because
the CSS files are not loading. For instance, one file referred to in the HTML

On libreoffice.org I'm able to find how to raise a bug (there's a link to
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/); however there aren't any
instructions for what to do if I would like to raise a new feature request.

It should be made clear on the Get Help pages
(https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/) whether feature requests should be
raised as bugs (if so, should we use any special tags?), or whether there's
some other preferred way to handle them.

Thanks.

Most of the dates are 7 or 8 January but clearly the week number defers, so it

[libreoffice-website] [Bug 73236] New: Add mechanism to simplify event/holiday-based branding of the main website

Many websites make small event/holiday-based tweaks to their websites. Some,
such as Google, take this to an art form with 'Google Doodles', etc..

It would be great for us to have some mechanism to make it easy to add these
little tweaks to our website, perhaps even scheduling them ahead of time to
have them appear for a single day or a group of days.

Example events:
- Document Freedom Day
- LibreOffice's Birthday
- Software Freedom Day
- Release days (especially nice: a multi-day countdown to release)
- Winter Holiday/Christmas
- New Year's Day
- Valentine's Day

Although this process is more programmatic than design-related, we might wish
to consider such a system during the current Website Redesign.

evaluation, QA testing, etc. You are not recommended to use LibreOffice
pre-release builds for mission-critical purposes. For more information about
QA testing, please visit the QA testers page. Please always read the Releases
Notes.

If you're interested in even more bleeding-edge binaries of our current
development, check out our nightly builds - those are potentially even less
suitable for productive work, provided by individual contributors, and not
QA-approved in any way. Caveat emptor.

We are moving to a new (own) bugzilla. For this we likely need to update the
bug queries at openhatch. Currently we pragmatically feed a static set
EasyHacks bug-id query as it wasnt easy to get something else to work reliably
there:

http://openhatch.org/customs/edit/bugzilla/126/LibreOffice

This EasyHack would be to negotiate with the EasyHacks guys on how to improve
that situation and query for our tags directly and reliably.

(It would be so much easier, if OpenHatch had a preview feature showing this
are the bugs I saw with that query last time.)

Hi,

We have a strange Silverstripe issue.

Today i figured that our Contact page with url
https://tr.libreoffice.org/iletisim/ was showing the content of get-help page
http://tr.libreoffice.org/get-help/. I investigated the matter from admin
dashboard, and no changes were there. Saved the İletişim(Contact) page and
problem was solved.

However i just see that another page Belgelendirme(Documentation) with url
https://tr.libreoffice.org/belgelendirme/ is showing the homepage of
https://tr.libreoffice.org/home/

I'm leaving the page unchanged for your investigation.

Best regards,
Zeki

[libreoffice-website] [Bug 72370] New: redirect blogs.libreoffice.org to planet.documentfoundation.org and adjust title on planet

2013-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72370

Bug ID: 72370
CC: website@global.libreoffice.org

planet
  Severity: normal

OS: All
  Reporter: bjoern.michael...@canonical.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: WWW
   Product: LibreOffice

Planet is not a commonly understood word outside the hacker culture.
Thus change the title from Planet TDF to LibreOffice Community Blogs and
have blogs.libreoffice.org redirect to planet.documentfoundation.org (or vice
versa, if simple to do).

for reference (from #libreoffice-dev):
16:55 @mmeeks Sweetshark: I suspect that the libreoffice planet is another
victim of the unhelpful 'TDF' parallel brand.
16:55 @mmeeks Sweetshark: planet.libreoffice.org is where I'd look for it ;-)
17:12 @Sweetshark mmeeks: nah not really. its because we neither link to it
from either libreoffice.org and documentfoundation.org. We only have the TDF
blog in there.
17:13 @Sweetshark mmeeks: fwiw, I now added the planet to the TDF blog, my
blog and in the default header on the TDF wiki and the wiki frontpage.
17:13 @mmeeks Sweetshark: you don't think the huge title: The Document
Foundation Planet
17:13 @mmeeks Sweetshark: makes it just a bit harder to find it when you
search for LibreOffice Planet ? ;-)
17:13 * mmeeks thinks it is yet-another slam-dunk example of the folly of
dual-branding ;-)
17:14 @Sweetshark mmeeks: if you are talking about the general population,
they dont have a clue what a planet is in the first place.
17:14 tml_ Sweetshark: +1
17:14 @Sweetshark mmeeks: hence I called it LibreOffice community blogs in
my links.
17:15 @Sweetshark mmeeks: but yeah: having the title changed and maybe
blogs.libreoffice.org redircting to it cant hurt either.
17:20 @Sweetshark mmeeks: and https://www.libreoffice.org/default/ ONLY
featured the 'official blog' -- not the community. Same with libreoffice.de. I
understand that having a community member rant syndicated there directly might
be ... unfortunate. But a link to the planet itself cant hurt (...).
17:20 @Sweetshark (strangely they also have a twitter section featuring ...
a big whitespace.)
17:25 @Sweetshark mmeeks: and again: the urgent problem has little to nothing
to do with the TDF/LibreOffice branding. After all, if you google for
documentfoundation you wont find the planet on the first two pages either.
and nobody bothers beyond that.
17:26 @Sweetshark mmeeks: OTOH planet libreoffice finds the TDF planet as
first hit. QED: nothing to do with the LO/TDF dual brand and everything with
underlinking and 'planet' being geekspeak

(adding links should be fixed by now, so the rename is what remains)

which misses OTRS, RedMine evaluation, gerrit, jenkins, ownCloud to name a few
from top of my head. Adding notes like the one on the fdo bugzilla (we plan to
move to foo etc.) to give orientation would be extra sweet.

When editing existing strings or editing other translators suggestions, the

This is very annoing.

If not corrected the string ends up 'dirty' with these blanks.

The consequense will be a lot of dirty strings.

Since fdo#70682 (Thanks MatM!) was fixed, we now have a full copy of the repo

We could checkout the change and do a git diff --stat or somesuch to extract
the top level directories a change touches and report that for new changes.

This would make it easier for reviewers to quickly scan for changes that are
relevant for them.

Please do not change a version, because it also manifests in a later

The change was not to a later version but rather an earlier version.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Find existing bug with LO release version (3.5.x?).
2. Change version back to Inherited From OOo.
3. Warning text is displayed.

Current behavior: Displays warning message when setting Version field back to

Expected behavior: Only displays warning message when setting Version field

May be related to bug 69369, and thus not fixable, but I thought I should at
least document the behaviour in a bug report.

We want to improve our QA webpage (http://qa.libreoffice.org/)
It would be very nice, if you could
a) Review all public pages
b) Review all non-public pages

For a) a user profile is recommended for b) it is a must.
If you need rights the best way is to contact cloph (Christian L.)...

Anyone interested?
For a) you may also comment here, but direct edit is highly preferred ;)

We are looking to substantially clean the whiteboard wiki page. The idea is
that we want something much much simpler than what is currently there and move
the current page to something like whiteboard_complete or whiteboard_advanced.
The general idea is we want a basic page where new QA members won't get
overwhelmed with the amount of information but at the same time we want full
documentation available to more experienced QA to see all the nitty gritty
info currently on the page (which again should be moved to _complete or
_advanced or something else that makes sense)

Here is the link:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Fields/Whiteboard

Suggestion:
Copy content of the page to a temporary holding place on the wiki
Then on the main page liberally cut down to the bare minimum
Organize in a way that a new user would be able to follow when to use the terms
Add some of the new terms that we now have - I can get you a list of new terms
(or a list of all terms if that helps)

I'm happy to be a mentor on this - just haven't had time to do it myself.
Email me if you need advice :) Much appreciated if someone will take this long
pending task off of my plate.

For various reasons, QA is supportive of implementing OpenID support in
Bugzilla. This would (hopefully) lower the barrier to users filing new bug
reports, and would allow us to do interesting things in the future, such as
creating tools to move a Bugzilla bug - Ask LibreOffice question (or vice
versa).

We should wait on this improvement until we migrate Bugzilla to a separate
instance.

Problem description: Currently the pages providing installation advice for both
the MacOS and Linux platforms include a version number from the old v3 series.
This should be removed to bring it in-line with the same page for Windows.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Visit http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/mac/ or
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/linux/
2. Notice the text in the browser tab and browser window title. For the Mac
page it states LibreOffice 3 and for the Linux page LibreOffice 3.3. Refer
attached screenshots.
3. Now visit http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/windows/ and
compare. Not version number is shown.

Current behavior: (Old) version number is shown.

Expected behavior: No version number is shown.

[libreoffice-website] [Bug 70682] New: Highlight first time contributors in gerrit daily digest

2013-10-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70682

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70682
CC: website@global.libreoffice.org
  Assignee: libreoffice-b...@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Highlight first time contributors in gerrit daily
digest
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: bjoern.michael...@canonical.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: WWW
   Product: LibreOffice

We have a daily digest sending information about changes on gerrit. The current
implementation can be found here:

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=dev-tools.git;a=blob;f=gerritbot/send-daily-digest;h=ea3f9b5767e067147ba6a1fcc6a12448ce78d72f;hb=8ef490cebaf16778f18896448fa454c158368cef

This Easy Hack is to extend the script to:

- keep a local copy of the core repo
- do something like `git log --pretty=%aE master|sort|uniq` on that to find
people, who already did commits
- then highlight those that are _NOT_ in that list in the output (e.g. a
separate section in from of the others)

This is so that we core developers can make sure a first time contributor does
not block too long on a patch waiting for review,

REPRO:

1) Open https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
2) If enabled, disable javascript for the libreoffice.org domain
3) Click on the [bugzilla] link:

It is also possible to use [bugzilla], with a more complex interface, instead
to report a problem.

RESULT:
The page reloads and the body of the page (below the header banners) appears
blank. There is no obvious way to get to FDO or back to the previous BSA
screen.

EXPECTED:
To be taken to this page on Bugzilla where one can enter a new LibreOffice bug:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice;bug_status=UNCONFIRMED;version=?

NOTES:
Right-clicking the link and selecting 'Open in a New Tab' will properly open
the link

[libreoffice-website] [Bug 70636] New: bug reporter pages are just plain fucked

2013-10-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: WWW
   Product: LibreOffice

If I'm coming to report a bug, the situation is already not good. The process
to report the bug should be reasonably easy. When I follow the obvious links
from the main page of the LibreOffice site, I arrive at what should be the
first page of the bug filling process, I instead just get the message that I
need to enable JavaScript to use that page. Ugh, not another senseless JS page.
The fact I can see the damn page for a fraction of a second before all the
content is replaced with the message about needed JavaScript just adds to the
annoyance. I can't help but wonder what portion of this process legitimately
needs JS. Whatever, shouldn't really matter, right below where it says I need
JS, there is mention of using the Bugzilla interface directly which is claimed
to be more advanced and does not require JS. Well good, that just what I want.
However, the link doesn't fucking work without JavaScript! If I click the
bugzilla link, the JavaScript message goes away and I'm left staring at a
mostly blank page, header at top, a few screens of whitespace, and the footer
at the bottom. How the fucking hell did you nimrods manage to make a link
require JavaScript?!? To get to this bugzilla instance from that page I simply
havef to temporarily allow JavaScript. What the fuck good is a link to a non-JS
version of the bug reporting facility if I can't get there without JavaScript?
huh? Are you retards really THAT fucking stupid?

P.S. The first bug report is written in a more annoyed tone than it would have
been due to the bullshit hoops I have to jump through to file it. This report
degrades to straight up vulgarity because, well, I shouldn't even have to be
filing this fucking bug. The fact this bug report exists means the system is
totally fucked. Fix your shit!

This Easy Hack is to sort and clean up Wiki pages on
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/

For example for development pages:

to those pages:
- add [[Category:development]] if needed
- add the menus from e.g. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development to
the page, if needed
- move pages to a subpage of Development/, if needed
  example:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/index.php?title=Development%2FImpress_Remote_Protocoldiff=76519oldid=76518
(mediawiki will automatically create a redirect from the old page to the new
page)
- create links between related pages liberally to improve discoverability

The same applies to other categories: Marketing, Design, Website ...

Rob -- we've talked about this change.

The Plan:

Once a bug is confirmed to be a regression by QA, we can remove
'PossibleRegression' from the whiteboard and add 'regression' as a keyword.

This change should keep our unconfirmed bugs a bit quieter for the devs who
go looking for regressions.

actually the versions:
inherited from OOo
Master old -3.6
are listed at the bottom of the list.

I think that they should follow the chronological order and be placed
respectively:

inherited from OOo -- top of the list before 3.3.0
Master old -3.6 -- in the middle between 3.5 Daily and 3.6.0 alpha1

by the way I think that 3.5 Daily can be safely removed from the list as well
since it's the only Daily version of any branch left and 3.5.x is EOL.

one could argue if Master old -3.6 can already be deleted as well for the
same reasons.

regarding the unspecified version I think it's right place is at the end of
the list like it's now.

I think it's useless both on freedesktop and BSA.
few users use that and most of the time they use inappropriately (I cleaned up
many reports with see in summary tag but without any version indicated in the
summary). I think it should be removed from the Version dropdown menu.

Support for Mac OS X for PowerPC has been dropped. which is OK.

But on system requirements web site:

there is still listed Intel or PowerPC processor as supported platform.
PowerPC is not supported in 4.1. There should probably be info that PowerPC is
not supported and users interested in using LibreOffice on PowerPC should use
older version of LibreOffice 3.6.x or 4.0.x.

The current state is a loss in usability. The option should be available in the

with bug subjects so that the reader can easily see, which bugs are of
interest/relevant to him and have a concise overview of the changes in MAB --
that is:
- added bugs
- removed bugs
- fixed bugs

Finally, this digest should not only reach the developer list, but the qa-list

Problem description:

Hi,

We have a twitter account feeding the new questions to followers
@AskLibreOffice (https://twitter.com/AskLibreOffice) and it is currently
driving good traffic to Ask site.(avarage 5 clicks per link)

It will be nice to have this account on Resources section in the sidebar of
the ask site. Alternatively having a Follow Us iconlink will be better.

This will increase the number of our followers and keep their attention on new
questions.

Best regards,
Zeki

[libreoffice-website] [Bug 65081] New: otrs.libreoffice.org should have a new canned reply for commit access

2013-05-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon

The otrs-queue for gerrit is used to grant direct commit access to master. It
would be great to have a canned reply like the support EN/DE ones there with
the following text:

Hello $NEW-COMMITTER,

I have added you to the group committers. This mean you now have:
- the ability to push other peoples patches to master with your review
- the ability to push your own patches to master directly

This power comes with a responsibility: We would like to invite you to do your
share in reviewing the patches of others. Every little bit helps, but it might
be best to set yourself a regular time (once a week, once a month, once a
quarter). If you are unsure at first, and shy to push patches by someone else
to master, you can start off by simply commenting on a patch. As said above:
Every little bit helps!

Thanks and welcome on board!

Best,

$ADMIN
