Vince, thanks for that. Now that I think of it, those Chinese cams (and
DVRs) were used as bots during a recent DOS attack. The newer ones are
supposed to be better, but who knows for sure?

Thanks Gary. I will start making the changes you suggest.
As for the other two issues, the gauges 'appear' to be working, but if you
have found some underlying issue, I would like to sort it and the WU RF out.
I'll be getting back to you.

No problem, Gary. Once we, or should I say you, get this fixed..I'll be a
bit apprehensive about updating Weewx itself. But, I'll probably do it.

Well, some of the problem may have been typos on my end. I know just enough
about Linux to be dangerous. While i have no problem with weewx and have

Thanks, Vince. I am going to do the manual install as I could not get the

understanding how it works in this case..I have used the installer

There was a community wide internet problem today; that may have been the
problem. Each time I checked this afternoon it has been ok.

I just checked the weeWX machine, and gauge-data.txt is updating every 2

Thanks Gary. Is it possible that a small cron i have set up could do this?
Every day at 0001 i have the archive.sdb zipped and uploaded to a folder on
my web site. Other than that is there any tools available that i can use to
track down the leak?

Gary, I was thinking the same thing. None of the actions directly related
to Weewx ever became erratic, so there must be something else involved.

G'day Gary! Its been a while. As you know I was having a memory leak
problem which seems to be coming from the driver used with my Ultimeter.
Although the memory still increases, it is much less using an old version
rather than the one included with the Weewx update. Anyway, in trying to

Peter..yes, Weewx is running when I backup. I have it scheduled to run on
an odd minute once/day. Archiving runs on the even minute.

Gary..yes..I believe you are correct, but there is something kind of
nagging at me, so I am going to do a controlled test (ie writing down what
I do) rather than trying to remember the steps I go through.

Thats why I did not do the upgrade. 3.8.2 does everything I want, plus I
did not want my Steel Guages to be broken.

Gary..I changed the .php file locally and uploaded it to the /ss directory.
This did not change anything, however one thing I see is that
gauge-data.txt has not changed since 9/17. I am starting to wonder if it
may be best to uninstall/reinstall steel gauges from weewx?

Gary..I will check for the .php file later today...thanks
Vince..I intend on changing to Rsync once I get the gauges working again.
I'm sure I will have some problems when I do it, and don't want to try and
fix 2 problems at the same time.

ps..I removed the old gauge-data.txt files from the server, and they are
not being generated (or the server isn't allowing them to upload).

Gary..thank you for the reply
I think I have it sorted out. In my old version of Weewx, I made a few
changes in weewx.conf which seems to have worked, and as you said, the
Steel Guages are not affected.
