Now auto-numbering is off but the bug indeed springs out for some links.

At http://www.withoutvowels.org/wiki/Tanakh:Genesis_1:2 there are a link to
http://www.withoutvowels.org/wiki/Hebrew:%D7%AA%D7%94%D7%95 which appears like
a link to an nonexistent page despite of it exists.

Bug #: 32780
Summary: The page foo is listed under Templates used on
this page if the current page countains
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: unspecified
 Platform: All
 URL: https://pt.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipédia:C

Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Page editing
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: mybugs.m...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

To reproduce the bug, just create a page with and open it in
edit mode. MediaWiki 1.17 and 1.18 shows foo as if it were one of the
templates in the page (which has no template at all). For a real example, see
https://pt.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipédia:Concursos/I_GP_Wikimedia_Brasil/Listaaction=edituselang=en

That page should display only Template:artigo6 in the list.

If we run a tor client, it seems preferable to investigate the protocol to get
a live feed from our client. The other method may be kept for users which
won't
be running a daemon.

Can we export the exit list from TorBlock itself and publish that data on WMF
servers for the benefit of TorBlock users without a Tor client? Say with an API
module?

Actually, to fix this, you set

XMLReader::setParserProperty(XMLReader::SUBST_ENTITIES, true)

Problem is however that this opens you up to entity expansion xmlbombs. I'm not
sure if XmlReader sets safe limits to prevent this, an where or how those
limits are set.

Alternatively, i think we could just whitelist this case. Patch attached.

Yes, Bug 31958 (marked as duplicate) contains some scenarios. The
above-mentioned include namespace should be the existing Mediawiki: namespace,
but what is still missing is a parserfunction that injects a javascript from
Mediawiki-namespace into a specific article page, to support custom
functionalities developed by the community according to community needs for
specific purposes.

*bump*

there seem to be consensus on enwiki for this, I guess it would be best if it
was implemented as core features

either something like option for strict (case sensitive file extensions + check
for redundancy of JPEG, JPG etc.) and option for redundant files (files with
same name but different extension, however before it could be enabled there
would be need to clean up existing files) what do you think? Is it good idea or
not?

Another idea:
Make options for upload form so that existing files would be kept but upload
form would not allow upload of files which are not matching new criteria

Currently the use of the Special:DisableAccount is not logged, not that I'm
aware of. We only can guess that an account has been disabled because the
'inactive' userright suddenly appears on the disabled account, but that change
of rights is not logged anywere.

I think that the use of this nuclear tool should be logged for transparency in
the block log, in a new 'disabled accounts' log or, as CU, on
Special:DisableAccount/Log.

Thanks.

This bug appears when I browse with my user, when I browse as Admin user, and
when I browse anonymously.

It seem to not depend on Auto-number headings setting.

I was trying to upgrade from 1.16.5 to 1.18.0 on MySQL 5.5.16 using the web
installer, but the script stopped on creating table `iwlinks` cos it used
DEFAULT CHARSET=mysql4. Creating `iwlinks` manually using DEFAULT
CHARSET=binary fixed it and I could continue with the web installer.

--- Comment #1 from fastgoldf...@gmail.com 2011-12-03 21:54:08 UTC ---
I ran into this problem with properties of type URL. Long URLs are routine. I
solved the issue with this bit of CSS in my MediaWiki:Common.css:

/* Ensures long URLs in the SMW factbox don't ruin page layout */
.smwprops { word-wrap:break-word; }

the smwprops class should probably have that CSS added to it in SMW core. That
will probably solve the problem except maybe in unusual cases where the
properties themselves contain markup that interferes with that CSS. I'm not
sure how to handle that, but for now, my patch above should solve the problem
in most cases.

I have extra databases to which my mediawiki connect to.

When the $wgDebugLogFile is activated it's confusing to search for the correct

I propose we add the database name next to the counter in the wfDebug()
message.

example: wfDebug( Query $this-mDBname($cnt) (master): $sqlx\n );

$wgAllowCopyUploads currently sideloads the file with no reference to the
source page unless one is entered into the description manually. A link to
source would be very useful and should probably be default on, as it was
expected - and has also been mentioned on the Manual talk for the option, so
I'm not the only one; though I can imagine where one might not want to link
back to the source in some cases. The first time I used this, I was quite
surprised that it didn't give me a way to get back to the source image.

It would be particularly nice if it could check for a parameter |source= and
append the url there if it exists.

We ship MediaWiki with a hitcounter feature. This feature basically makes an
update to the database on every page view just to count how many people have
viewed the page. And our default out-of-the-box settings have it enabled and
set to 1 so that every single page view makes the most inefficient possible
update.

Frankly I can't believe we ship MediaWiki with a feature of minimal use that
reduces the wiki's performance.

This feature sounds perfect to split out into an extension for those who want
it.

[Bug 32785] Attempt to action=edit a page in the Media: namespace

This is already fixed on trunk...

I wonder if the fix for special:whatlinkshere/media:foo that's currently tagged
1.18wmf1 will fix this.

[Bug 32790] New: Special:PrefixIndex next page link fails to give all successive pages when Prefix is blank

2011-12-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32790

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 32790
Summary: Special:PrefixIndex next page link fails to give all
successive pages when Prefix is blank
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: unspecified
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Special pages
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: wikipediad...@googlemail.com
Classification: Unclassified

When there are more pages than can show on a page of Special:PrefixIndex the
link Next page (foo) shows in the upper right hand corner as can be seen
here:
http://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3APrefixIndexprefix=namespace=0

However, when no starting page has been entered, the name of the immediately
succeeding page is treated as both the from and the prefix, frequently
resulting in a single entry rather than all of the succeeding pages as
expected. This can be seen by clicking the Next page link on the page above.

When a prefix is given, this does not occur as prefix is fixed at that value
as one pages through the Next page links, as can be seen, for example, here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:PrefixIndexfrom=Centralnotice-2011translations-maryana-1%2Fsrprefix=Centralnotice-2011namespace=8

It should be possible to use a null prefix and page through all of the pages in
a namespace.

As a related matter, since I can foresee being told that I should be using
Special:AllPages (though it's not as easy to use in my opinion),
Special:AllPages fails to create a link to Next page unless Display pages
ending at parameter is blank, which means if one uses the navigation tool
provided, e.g. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:AllPages, one will be
taken to a page that has no next page link. To get a next page link one
must either remove the Display pages ending at parameter or click the
Previous page link - after which a Next page link can be seen.

[Bug 14951] Global spam blacklist should have less or no lag time before taking effect

Adding an aspect to management of the spam blacklist. Currently we have

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Spam_blacklist

and this file is now 15k lines in length. Adding to this file at this point
in time is a slow old task, and it seems that we are over-processing by
maintaining just the one spam blacklist, especially as it is more likely that
we add to the file, and not often remove.

Would it be possible to have a longer slower file that isn't edited very often,
and a smaller quicker file that is able to be updated quickly, and possibly
more often. Then we can look to merge the bigger and the smaller on occasions.

I would also comment that we need quick responsive additions, whereas removals
can be slower and occur when able. Thanks.

When adding new images via glance, the list of images available on instance
creation changes. It should be possible to define which image is the default
for instance creation, otherwise people will assume they are using the
recommended image, but are instead getting whichever one is newest.

[Bug 32792] New: Proofread Page extension inconsistently expects escaped spaces in namespaces

2011-12-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32792

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 32792
Summary: Proofread Page extension inconsistently expects
escaped spaces in namespaces
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
 URL: http://vi.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=Mục_lục:Vie
t_Nam_Su_Luoc_1.djvuaction=edit
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: ProofreadPage
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: m...@1ec5.org
Classification: Unclassified

The Vietnamese localization of the Proofread Page extension uses Mục lục as
the index namespace. However, the extension sometimes expects the space to be
replaced with an underscore.

If the proofreadpage index namespace message is localized as Mục lục, with
a space, then things like the Source tab and quality bar in the main
namespace break, because the following line in prepareArticle() in
ProofreadPage_body.php evaluates to null:

$index_ns_index = MWNamespace::getCanonicalIndex( strtolower(
$index_namespace ) );

On the other hand, if the proofreadpage index namespace message is localized
as Mục_lục, with an underscore, the index page edit form breaks, because
expressions like the following in ProofreadPage_body.php evaluate to 0:

preg_match( /^$index_namespace:(.*)$/, $ref_title-getPrefixedText() )

For instance, s:vi:MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index namespace is currently set
to Mục_lục, but that causes the edit page for [[s:vi:Mục lục:Viet Nam Su Luoc
1.djvu]] to use the normal wiki editor.

It doesn't really matter which style the extension settles on, as long as it
treats proofreadpage index namespace and proofreadpage page namespace
consistently.
