  The Wikivoyage template vCard  
can use up to 50 statements per template (see table ParWD at 
Module:VCard/Params , too). 
About 5 `addStatementUsage` calls per template on average are not really much 
even for an entity which is already loaded (loading takes only about 2.5 ms). 
Within the last weeks we added only //one// statement (P3025 
: open days). Therefore, the number of 
`addStatementUsage` calls increased only by a few percent.
  
  Some days ago a single `addStatementUsage` call costs // only about 1 ms // 
but now // 6 ms //. The question arose: why this drastic change: more than 500 
%? I have no idea why an access to an entity table already loaded is // now // 
as much expensive.
  
  If we cannot solve this problem then Wikidata will become useless for 
Wikimedia projects especially for list articles. An optimized Wikidata access 
for Wikivoyage and other Wikimedia projects is a mission-critical goal. We need 
the data at Wikidata to easily maintain them for all Wikivoyage projects. The 
main problem at Wikivoyage is to use data not only in a single information box 
but at many places in text, too. And why we cannot use this data any longer as 
we did it within the last four years?
  
  When I started to work on a Wikidata usage in vCard template four years ago I 
was really astonished by the huge computing time: about one minute per article 
(of course, the parsing was stopped before). That's why I am using a lot of 
helper tables to // prevent // additional Wikidata access for instance to get 
labels and country-specific data.

  While we are generally interested in moving all static sites at some point in 
the future we are not there yet at the current time, primarily because we don't 
have an ingress yet.
  
  Until that has changed we would like to offer a the following fix in the 
meantime:
  
  wikidata-query-service UI / query builder move to the current setup for 
microsites. They are hosted on miscweb* servers alongside other existing 
microsites.
  
  We would add puppet code needed for that and puppet would pull content from 
deployment repos on Gerrit, like we do it with other microsites.
  
  Once setup, some people would then get +2 on the deploy repo and it would 
also solve the requirement that you can deploy content by yourself without 
having to wait for other teams
  while needing a lot less engineering effort.
  
  Regarding CDN cache purging the same would apply that does for varnish/ATS on 
wiki sites. 
(https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Apache_Traffic_Server#Forcing_a_cache_miss_(similar_to_ban)
  if really needed though almost never needed for microsites).
  
  It is also possible to configure a specific site as just "passthrough" 
without actual caching.
  
  I would be happy to setup the puppet part for you.  In the future we would 
then revisit this to move all static sites at once.

  I don’t understand what this task is asking for. The proper way to access the 
Commons query service from the Wikidata query service would be through SPARQL 
federation, not MWAPI – as you certainly know, since you created T265891: Add 
Wikimedia Commons Query Service endpoint in the WDQS federation whitelist 
 just before this task. The only 
reason I can think of to use MWAPI is because commons.wikimedia.org is already 
on the WDQS MWAPI allowlist…

TASK DESCRIPTION
  Chrome does seem to show (some?) active styles while a menu item is clicked. 
However, Firefox does not. IE and Safari have yet to be tested.
  
  As a workaround, it might be possible to add some class to the clicked menu 
item on `mousedown` and apply the `:active` styles if that class is present. 
There are probably some edge-cases with this workaround that might not be worth 
the time investment.

  Well said. The current objectives and timeouts were... educated guesses at 
the time and the - to an extend - circular dependency did not help in drafting 
them. There is poor T220404: Calculate sensible MW->Node timeout once deployed 
 as a last ditch effort from back 
then to document the need to reiterate on this once we have real world data to 
base decisions one but nothing ever came from it. I'm looking forward to the 
mediawiki SLOs.

  and that's what the left panel in that dashboard has. The issue isn't with 
the division, it's rather with the increase() function (the right hand side 
panel is just the nominator of the above equation), so it's

  The `sum()` is to sum across all the instances of termbox in that timeframe, 
the `increase()` is to calculate the change in that quantity from start to end 
of the timeframe. Normally it works, but in this case, it has failed. My guess 
as to what has happened is that due to 2 deployments (you can use the main 
termbox dashboard to spot them) termbox pods were destroyed and new ones 
started. So metrics changed and the internal counter resetting detection of 
rate() could not function. If you target a week without deploys, you aren't 
gonna witness that.

  It also means we 'll have to figure out how to calculate better the SLO 
across large timeframes.

  First look at the issue - usual culpruits don't seem to apply here:
  
  - Munged dump is correct for one of the affected entitites
  - query, after loading the data into blazegraph is fine,too
  
  Interestingly, every single entity I found with this, was updated on 12 June 
2020 (though with correct data and by different users) - I'm not sure if 
there's a significance here yet or just a freak coincidence.
  
  Reload might be in order - currently process works correctly.

  Task breakdown notes:
  
  - We understand the AC “a change is only propagated for a change of the 
description if the content language of the client wiki is the same as the 
language of the description that was changed” to mean that //a recentchanges 
row is only created// if the language matches. On the repo, we don’t know 
anything about the client’s entity usage, nor its content language, so the repo 
will always inject the `ChangeNotification` job into the client’s job queue.
  
  - We expect that no changes to Wikibase Repository will be needed. Any 
potentially affected wiki will already be subscribed to the entity through a 
“title” and “sitelink” usage, and the repo will already send a 
`ChangeNotification` job to all clients. It’s up to the clients to now react to 
not only the real usages registered in their `wbc_entity_usage` table, but also 
to the implicit description usage in their content language.
  
  - We will hard-code the knowledge that the implicit use we support is 
“description in the client’s content language”. Of course, nothing stops the 
client wiki community from creating a gadget or something else which 
effectively uses other parts of the item implicitly (e. g. getting the Japanese 
label through JavaScript), but we don’t support tracking that kind of implicit 
use or adding it to the recent changes / watchlist.
  
  - The implicit use will probably be synthesized in an implementation of the 
`UsageLookup` interface (`getUsagesForPage()` and `getPagesUsing()` methods), 
adding to the current database-based implementation (`wbc_entity_usage` table).

to figure out where it comes from, since it makes little sense already (English

through Lua) and will soon make even less sense once we’ve implemented implicit 
usages for those (T191831 ).

TASK DESCRIPTION
  Currently, there is no access to other wikibases data in remote wikibases. In 
this case user cant query from WDQS to Wikimedia Commons Query Service 
endpoint. This would add access via MWAPI[1].  Even if it is a rather limited 
way the mwapi is already "production-ready" and the required change would be 
just configuration change.

  Wikimedia Commons Query Service[1] should be added to WDQS federation 
whitelist so that image metadata could be used in WDQS queries and more 
specifically in tools like "Wikidata list" [2]

  The real-life use case would be reading date information of P18

  I got confused – it’s a problem just with this change, which touches that 
line so it has a trailing comma. (I guess I got confused about seeing the same

  I completely forgot that `non` is already available for monolingual. I think 
@Mbch331's solution with adding `non-runr` and leave `non` as it is (i.e. 
=`non-latn`) is the best approach.

  I could swear I saw the same eslint error on another change earlier today, 
but I can’t find it now – this other WikibaseLexeme change 
 
had a successful main test build around 13:00 CEST (11:00 UTC).

 the main test build at 9:28 CEST (7:28 UTC) still succeeded, but the main test 
and gate-and-submit builds around 13:30 CEST (11:30 UTC) both failed with this 
error.

the list of suggestions. A menu item should transition into its `active` state 
upon `mousedown`, and confirm the selection upon `mouseup`. TBD keyboard

  About MassMessage and Nuke: MassMessage edits are apparently made by a 
special system account, so adding that to the Account creators group should 
solve the MassMessage problem. And Nuke acts through the user who issued the 
command, but the command is limited to Administrators and that group already 
has the noratelimit right, so they should not be affected.
  
  However, the Wikidata staff group doesn’t have the right to add the 
MassMessage system user to the Account creators group (and neither do regular 
Administrators like Amir or Marius). If I understand correctly, only 
Bureaucrats are allowed to add users to the Account creators group, and we only 
have three of those on Wikidata (list of Bureaucrats 
; plus probably 
some global group members?). @Lydia_Pintscher: should we use a maintenance 
script to add the system user to the group, or ask a Bureaucrat to do it? The 
maintenance script would be simpler, but if I recall correctly, that leaves no 
trace in the user rights log 
, so it would be less 
transparent on-wiki.

  The journal has grown to 1.3TB:

  This has happened before (T241418 
) and seems linked to free 
allocators starvation. There isn't much more we can learn, so I'll reset the 
data from another node.
