Thank You Steve for the information.
OER's to “FOERSTER”
“Open Educational Resources”, or OERs.
From 1st April on, they are to be known as “Freely/Openly Enabled
Resources Supporting Training, Education, and Research”.
The change will include resources related to training and research.
Warm wishes
Hi Everyone,
I see - sounds like a great bid to create even more confusion after all of
the energy devoted to building brand and awareness around OERs.
Let's see - how about a Facebook campaign to get UNESCO to change their name
to:
United Nations of the Developing and Developed World
Hi All,
Why do we always have to get entangled in these problems whenever UN
and its organs enter into a purely Voluntary affair.
The same thinbg happens in many other affairs when they come in!!!
Why not leave us with OER ???
i can't understand why they need to change the names,
Why not
I agree. No need for anyone to change names or acronyms if UNESCO does so.
That's their business.
Jan

Oh for goodness sake!!! (One of my mother's favorite expressions) what a silly name...I have enough trouble trying to explain the OER concept to folks with adding a new mouthful! I vote that we continue to use OER in the ways we have been using it...I suppose UNESCO will still work with us even if
FOERSTER..is this a prima aprilis?

You must be right. Look at Steve's surname! Pretty good joke, particularly
considering that UNESCO is not unlikely to do such things.

I was looking over this page (http://wikieducator.org/Slideshow_demo)
and was curious to know if there is an easier way to upload a
slideshow (with or without audio) to WE. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

I'm glad you liked it -- it was meant all in good fun, of
course. :-)
I'd say the joke's really on Unesco, though, since so many people
thought this was eminently believable!
Cheers,
Change generally has two faces (good and bad), and it is always resisted at
first and later discovered to be the either the best or worst option taken.
I do not see much difficulty in the suggested new name by UNESCO. As long as
it does not come with ulterior motives that may be a problem to the
just when we were about to get familiar and comfortable with such term
here comes another confusing term...ow well!!

Good one, Steve, and totally timely. How long did that acronym take to
compose? The rest of you: You have been Trolled and PWNed.
