Re: [WikiEducator] Cast your vote in a poll: shall we establish a WikiEducator Community College?

2012-05-02 Thread Anil Prasad
Dear Patricia,

Excellent work! Thank you very much for moving forward with the
preparations for conducting the poll based on the nominations received. I
am also in favour of conducting the poll in WikiEducator using the poll
widget as Dr. Wayne and you have discussed. As per the tentative schedule
announced earlier in the other discussion thread for nominations, we will
run the current ‘Nomination Session’ till May 10, 2012’ and the rough
consensus poll from May 14 to 20, 2012. I think it will give sufficient
time for the idea to reach maximum number of community members and time for
you to try poll widget.

After the poll and selection of a name, we may create a WE work group to
formulate the business procedure for this new community initiative. It will
be nice to have all the contributors to this discussion thread and the main
thread on nominations on board the WE work group as well.

Go ahead and create the WE page for poll! – These are thrilling moments for
our WE community! I will also be joining you and Dr.Wayne there.

 Hi Patricia,

 ** **

Great to see international community collaboration in moving this idea
 forward.

 ** **

I'm wondering whether it wouldn't be better to host the poll on
 WikiEducator. For two reasons:

 ** **

- We remain true to our community values associated with the free
cultural works definition and commitment to using free software. (The
trouble with a Facebook poll is that the data will default to all rights
reserved and will not be openly licensed and Facebook is non-free
 software.)

- Hosting the poll on WikiEducator will ensure that we can keep an
accurate history of this important process.

We have a poll widget on WikiEducator (see for example the current poll
