Re: [Wikimedia-l] Fundraising Update - Big English Fundraiser

2016-11-28 Thread Joseph Seddon
Hey all!

I wanted to send a quick reminder that our English language fundraiser is
launching tomorrow afternoon (29th Nov, ~1300-1500 UTC).

A few other reminders:
* Have an idea? Leave it here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising
/2016-17_Fundraising_ideas
* Want to see the current control banner messaging and designs?:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/2016-17_Fundraising_ideas#Current_Control_Banner_Message
* Need to report a bug or technical issue with a banner or payments page?
Create a Phabricator ticket - https://phabricator.
wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/create/?template=118862
* Here is also the ever present fundraising IRC channel to raise urgent
issues: #wikimedia-fundraising (
http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=%23wikimedia-fundraising&uio=d4
 )
* You can also email me directly with feedback, ideas or issues (
sed...@wikimedia.org)

Finally we didn't get any interest in our fundraising feedback and design
sessions last week and the week before so they were put on hold, however if
there are individuals who are interested in taking part in such a session,
one on one, then reach out to me and I would be happy to arrange a time
with you.

Many thanks

Seddon

Re: [Wikimedia-l] 2015 - 2016 Fundraising Report just published

2016-11-28 Thread Pine W
There is an ongoing discussion about this subject in Wikipedia Weekly on
Facebook, and it appears that the matter is not yet closed.

Stephen, could you clarify who "we" is in your last paragraph? I am not
sure that WMF Legal is the entity that should be determining what is "in
the best interest of the Wikimedia movement or Foundation". While WMF Legal
certainly should make recommendations, the final decision about what is
best for WMF should rest with the WMF Board (which I have been pressing for
more transparency in financial matters for quite some time; I believe that
it would be in WMF's best interest to set a good example by being much more
transparent about financial matters in general).

Also, I question whether the decision about what is "in the best interest
of the movement" is WMF's decision to make.

Re: [Wikimedia-l] Voting's open on 2016 Community Wishlist Survey

2016-11-28 Thread Johan Jönsson
If you want to see what happened to the wishes from last year's
survey, the status column here could be helpful:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/2015_Community_Wishlist_Survey/Results

We'll get the word out on the wikis on the coming days, but if you
want to post on your local Village Pump to spread the word, that's
much appreciated.

[Wikimedia-l] Voting's open on 2016 Community Wishlist Survey

2016-11-28 Thread Danny Horn
Hi everyone,

The voting has started on the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey, and all
Wikimedia contributors are invited to come and vote on the projects that
WMF's Community Tech team will work on next year:

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/2016_Community_Wishlist_Survey

There are 267 proposals this year, on a wide range of subjects that I'm
pretty sure you have an opinion about.

You've got two weeks to vote, from now through December 12th. You can vote
for as many proposals as you like, by adding a {{support}} tag under the
proposals that you think are worthwhile.

Once the voting's over, we'll have a ranked list of projects for the
Community Tech team to work on, as well as other developers and volunteers
who want to build features and make changes that the core contributors
really want.

This is an opportunity for you to help set the agenda for a WMF product
team, so I hope everybody comes and participates!

[Wikimedia-l] WMDE update after the General Assembly

2016-11-28 Thread Tim Moritz Hector
Dear fellow Wikimedians,

Over the weekend, Wikimedia Deutschland held its General Assembly and
elections for the supervisory board as well as for the auditors.

The newly elected board consists of seven members:

* Tim Moritz Hector (Chair, re-elected)
* Sebastian Moleski (Treasurer, re-elected)
* Sabria David (re-elected)
* Kurt Jansson (re-elected)
* Lukas Mezger (re-elected)
* Harald Krichel (re-elected)
* Johanna Niesyto

The board has met for its first meeting on Sunday and elected Sabria David
and Kurt Jansson as Deputy Chair.

Johanna is new to the board, so please join me in welcoming her to the
board of WMDE. I would also like to thank our former board members Nikolas
Becker, Jürgen Friedrich and Catrin Schoneville wholeheartedly for the
great work and their commitment to Wikimedia Deutschland in the past years.

Lena Stammler and Daniel Baur (re-elected) are our two recently-elected
auditors, and I am extending my congratulations to them.

At the GA, the board furthermore presented the final report on the
WMDE-Governance-Review and how we handled the recommendations of the
report. Moreover, the members approved the annual plan for 2017.

The board will meet in January to discuss the goals for our term in the
next two years and I am very much looking forward to working together with
this team.

Best regards,
Tim Moritz Hector
