Re: [Wikimediach-l] Invitation to Wikipedia Day
Hello everyone I remember the death story :-) Well, why not ! Whether speaking or not speaking :-) I appreciate the invitation ! I won't be sure I can come before a little while, as my husband is travelling just this week. But I'll keep in touch. Is there a page or a wiki where I can follow what's going on ? Cheers Ant --- Michael Bimmler [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello Anthere, as you might know, Wikimedia CH will shortly after it's foundation organise a Swiss Wikipedia Day in Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich/ETH Zürich). It will be on Saturday June 17th. We hope that the program can include some speeches/presentations, talks, workshops, maybe introduction lessons, places to edit WP live under supervision (people who can help you), a Wikimedia CH-information desk etc. As we're looking for prominent Wikip/medians to give a kind of keynote-speech, we would like to ask you whether you have the time (and the interest) to give a little speech (either representing WMF or on your own) about Wikim/pedia (and some things about Free and Open Content) somewhen on June 17th. We're also inviting a IT professor from Zurich (ETH) who's (in CH) known a) for his great admiration of Wikipedia ( see english essay http://se.ethz.ch/~meyer/publications/wikipedia/wikipedia.pdf) and b) for a nice little causa when he was said to have died in his Wikipedia entry (Swiss newspapers assumed it was a post-exam revenge of some of his students) and we could maybe also organise a kind of panel discussion (but that are still only thoughts, nothing definitive...). We would really look forward to seeing you in Zurich (certainly also as guest without speech etc.)! Best Regards Michael Bimmler on behalf of the Wikipedia Day Organisation Commitee __ Do You Yahoo!? Re: [Wikimediach-l] Translation
More questions for the French translation: Art. 4.3 Active members have active and passive voting rights as well as the right to speak, file a motion and vote on motions in the general assemblies. What is the difference between active and passive voting right ? If only active members have them, should they be simply voting rights ? Re: [Wikimediach-l] Translation
Hi Frederic * active voting right = right to get a job within the corporation / association * passive voting right = right to vote for someone Even the swiss constitution and the cantonal constitutions make differences between these two rights. Interesting... I did not know about these terms. There is nothing like that in French, at least not litteraly: we say droit de vote (right to vote) and éligibilité (the fact that someone can be elected). To follow up on Jürg's links: http://www.parlament.ch/f/homepage/sv-services-dummy/sv-ww-a-z/sv-ww-v.htm#sv-ww-v-Vote-droit-Anchor http://www.parlament.ch/f/homepage/sv-services-dummy/sv-ww-a-z/sv-ww-e.htm#sv-ww-e-Eligibilit%E9-Anchor I'll translate accordingly. It looks to me like these terms are not that common in English either (which does not mean that they are incorrect, of course) -- in any case, the English Wikipedia does not know about them. By the way, could a sysop add the template {{bylaws}} at the top of the German bylaws ? It is very convenient when one is switching from one version to the other while translating (thanks to Delphine 'Notafish' for creating it). These are technical words. Strange also to me, but they are correct.
