Going by what Asaf disclosed to me on an email off the list, the event was
organized on these dates despite the knowledge of this major festival.
I fail to see why it was done so in such hurried manner, whatever is the
reasoning with respect to WMF travel schedule.

Some communities like Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati had village pump
nominations first instead of directly placing names in meta.
For those communities, sending new nominations officially will make WMF's
job more easy and community accepted.

We are just realizing that October 4th and 5th coincide with a festive long
week end. So, some members who have been earlier nominated and invited by
WMF are unable to attend the event.
However, all communities are welcome to recommend nominations replacing
