contributing to Wikipedia is rewarding in non monetary ways. Money may
make the world go round, but Money does not buy you the simple joys of

:-) Thank goodness, too!

But this commercialisation aspect is one that was asked at the WikiAcademy.
It is important to explain the ethos right from the beginning. In fact,
once this case is resolved, it would be good to have it documented so that
it can be used to strongly illustrate the point.

Agree with Logic. India Road Transport articles are babies in
comparision with their American or European counterparts. There is so
much to add, stuff that I've seen myself but camou add it because of

Also the fact that availability of RS affects. Infact I would say that as
one of reason for my non-involvment in the WP:INR workgroup. We created
most of content from MoRTH and available RS which are worthy enough to be

I don't think IEP criticism went mainstream in India.  It has probably got
more to do with the fact that pages on the encyclopedia (even about general
Indian topics) look complete and thorough.  We will have to work on
marketing and design a campaign that makes it easy for prospective
long-term contributors to grasp what Wikipedia's all about.

We should think about working on highly targeted campaigns augmented by
real life events - something like "Wikimedia Bollywood Project" using
geo-targeted banner campaigns which may elicit interest from potential
contributors by making them more aware about how we function.  Design and
proper marketing can take us a long way.

Th life cycle theory is very much applicable here. I've come across
several retired editors who retired because they were students who now
had work commitments or working people who wanted to free up some
