Ahh, good question. But yes, we did install Tidy. It's the windows
version though if that makes a difference. We are reasonably sure that
it's working (it definitely works independently of MW) because a few
small rendering problems were fixed, but the major ones described here
weren't

We would like some help in figuring out the quickest and easiest way to disable
link checking in the mediawiki software. By this I mean that when rendering a
page, there is a check to see if the original image exists. If it's found, a
link is constructed to the appropriate thumbnail
