I'd like to notify you that thanks to the generosity and cooperation if the previous owner, wikimania.org and wikimania.com are now owned by Wikimedia CH. The domain is currently set up in the same way as it was before but we have now the possibility tu use ssl.wikimania.org for the registrations and scholarship tools already hosted by Wikimedia CH. We also handled registration and scholarship applications in 2011 with no issues. Apart from that we are upgrading hardware anyway and I have done some optimizations on the servers as well. It has been owned by someone else for a long time. RobH looked into the Foundation acquiring it back in 2011, but unfortunately they turned it down. I'm pretty sure they are not interested in transferring it. They might have changed their minds, but the Foundation does not control the domain as of now.
