YAWN. I have yet to see a solar flare cause issues not saying it
won't... just saying the news media blows this stuff up every time.

What does that mean? Power outage, or no output?

LOL...but a great excuse for your tech support department when customers
call in complaining they can't download movies from Megaupload!

Apparent Power Outage or the UPS cards went ballistic…

Same. It could eventually happen, but I haven't seen any consequence of it.

Maybe some of those solar particles could penetrate this continual day
to day snow we're having and recharge my solar sites! :)

LOL, probably not.
There was a much larger particle storm in 2005 and nothing happened.
But it is radiation and works like a microwave on the core of the earth,
which can cause lava to expand.
Appx. 24 - 48 hrs. prior to the Haiti, New Zealand, Japan, and Chile EQ
there were strong solar
Although I'm guessing very few folks on this list use Engenius EOC-1650
access points, I can relate that my very small experiment sampling product
quality in outdoor Engenius gear from Microcenter has yielded 100% duds.
That is, of the APs purchased in a pinch last month because my usual
supplier
Haven't bought anything from Engenius since the CB3s, we tried some of
their new 802.11g gear when it first came out and found that it had
hardware issues (high failure rate and overheating issues, even
indoors). It failed even faster than HighGain stuff did.
Now the CB3, that was an
I have actually have pretty decent experience specifically with the
EOC-1650s, so far with about 20 deployed and a couple approaching 2years
outdoor operation. Interestingly, the 1650's have proven more reliable
than more Engenius' powerful units like EOC-2610 or EOC-2611P, suggesting
overheats.
Actually, I've observed RF issues from Solar Flares numerous times in the
past. A common symptom is RSSI dropping up to 10 db temporarilly during the
effected period on some paths.
Can be a problem for links operating on the threshold of acceptable link. It
helps to know when the solar flairs
Unrelated, I would be curious if anyone has had acceptable experience with
Engenius' Nanostation M clone, the ENH200 and ENH500.
Googling the OpenWRT and DD-WRT forums doesn't suggest anyone has been
playing around with them.
