Victoria,

Please don't take this as a personal attack, and like you, I too have some
issues w/ Bullit, but in this matter, I am in 100% agreement with Tom

By now, I believe that the entire industry (WISPs, Vendors, everyone) is
aware of what Part-15 stands for and the latest WISPCON attests that the
"silent majority" has voted with its feet

That said, we need to move beyond our personal egos; if we are to show &
prove to the world that license-exempt WISPs have evolved from the world of
duct-tape, bailing wire and pringles can antennas to building professional
carrier-class networks that are competitive with the incumbents, we need to
act like professionals and take the "higher road"

Case in point, last week, Jim Patient (Mac couldn't make it unfortunately)
gave a presentation to a standing ovation keynote address to a packed room
of over 250 government officials in North Carolina about WISPA/Mac
Dearman/License-Exempt Wireless Internet's impact on Hurrican Katrina Relief

Now, imagine how it looks when these government officials come check out
WISPA.org, and see in the PUBLIC LIST ARCHIVES that we're bickering over
Bullit this, my network is bigger than your network that, yada yada yada

Grin. I'm not sure how to take that! It seemed like a complement and a
slam all at the same time! (Not that I don't deserve both! lol)

I'm glad you finally have a network you can call your own! Now we'll see
what you're really made of. Welcome to the real world of having no one to
blame but one's self for all the problems that exist. It's a club I've had
the dubious distinction of belonging to since day one.

Keep your head up, look forward, but not too far. You've got a great
network there and lots of friends to help you out. You'll be fine as long
as you stay focused on the customers. Never forget that that's the one
thing that no one can take away from this industry. Customer service will,
in the end, trump all other broadband offerings.

I wish more people here knew what you've been going through over the last
year or so. They'd be truely amazed at what you've done and how you've held

up. I know I am.

Keep plugging along, go slowly for a while and lets show the world what you
can do!

I also use a BoseLAN BL-100T.  Not as fancy and only checks 4 wires, so not great on POE, but does test jumpers and shows link and data to either a PC or Hub.

[WISPA] Ethernet Error

2005-11-22 Thread Scott Reed

I have a customer that has both me and his computer fix-it man stumped.  It just won't talk Ethernet.  I can hook my laptop to the DLB2300 (Zinwell board) and surf the web just fine.  Connect his PC and nothing.  Tried a crossover cable between the laptop and his machine.  Laptop would not ping the PC, PC could ping the laptop.  Fix-it man went out today.  Couldn't find it.  Swapped the NIC.  No go.  Ran the Windows net fix stuff. We spent an hour on the phone with him at the site and me at the NOC monitoring the router ARP table, etc.  Never saw the PC.  Can ping the radio all day long.

Finally looked in the log on the 2300 and it shows: eth0 rx error =10.  As many as 14 a second.  Anyone have any ideas?

Re: [WISPA] ezlinx.net SPAM

2005-11-22 Thread Reliable Internet, LLC

huh.  I don't know why they pick on me. :(

I just told another company I would spend all day using their email on
porn sites (i figure I could get them 1000 spam a day) if they didn't
leave me alone.  Who knows, it might work.

Anyway, thanks.

  I do not see
that email address listed in
the wireless list membership roll.  I don’t
think he harvested this list.  I haven’t
ever gotten one from him that I know of.

  Do all
you guys get this
crap from them about once a week?  I have asked several times to be
removed from their spam list.  Did they harvest this list or p-15?

Today I responded asking about how they fix these "Transio" they talk
about.  LOL!  Stupid spammers can't even spell what they fix.
:)  I hate spam.

Tried both cards in another slot.

Leaning toward the software.  I will try a couple of things tomorrow.
If that doesn't find it, I think the fix-it guy will reload it for the
customer.

Other ideas welcome.
