hehe. I have used BL-C10A's outdoors in custom (read tha really ugly)

I've got one cam at http://bville2.cam.nearyou.net that's been up for 4

Anyone have suggestions for the next level of web cam. Not too much
hi
Yes, Marshall, you need to be aware of the stability of the wireless links
if you use a camera in that mode.
Both the camera's 802.11 and the AP's need to be tested beforehand to assure
that they won't get into a hangup...typical of, say, a WRT54G and a
Microsoft stack, requiring reboot.
Believe
Not that I'm aware of.

Speaking of I/O monitoring. Does anyone know of an inexpensive
ethernet I/O adaptor that supports modbus for monitoring sites?

I have received several mails from listers this week asking how much
license spectrum might cost to lease. While I am not an expert on the
matter (I can recommend a variety of good legal counsel though), I did
come across a 2005 presentation available online. With a caveat that I

Also, is verbal confirmation acceptable? I've had techs from manufacturer's
return calls after I asked about a specific antenna and tell me "yes, that's
an approved antenna." Or how about the specs page on the manufacturer
website? That way, new antennas could be added quickly.

I have four BL-C30A cameras and have been totally satisfied.
They are stable, never need a reboot, recover from power and severe
interference themselves, get good Wi-Fi range, and have pretty good low
noise imaging in low light.

Just looking for suggestions. Would like to offer a simple indoor

I just sent a note to them asking for clarification of this point. My
memory (painfully) matches yours Patrick. In no uncertain terms, we could
use any antenna we wanted, but it had to be listed as approved by the
manufacturer (who would add antennas with the stroke of a pen).

Right, and we probably both remember Marlon being so frustrated with
them on that point! :) I still remember where everyone was sitting at
the table and recall looking across the table to Marlon as he was so
exasperated.
Looks like things change George and for sure you are right that they

I'm surprised as well Patrick, I remember the same way as you do.
But I also remember at chicago wispnog, the fcc guy say they didn't
bother with looking at whose antennas were being used.

Btw, thanks Jack for the effort. Apparently, things change even without
adjustment in the rules sometimes depending on which group is doing the
interpretation. Next time I am up at the FCC talking to the guys with
authority over the Lab I will again put the question to them and report
back.

But I am good with it. It is a flexibility that makes sense. As a

Patrick,
I asked the certification lab/TCB that I work with to answer this question.
They replied that it is their interpretation that a WISP can use any
antenna /"of the same type and of equal or lesser gain as an antenna
that is authorized with the intentional radiator". /Here's the text fro
