Sprint should (and looks to be thinking the same thing) have done this with Clear. The article cites a report, without giving access to it, and doesn't state whether the interference was caused by LightSquared's high or low band. Previous rounds of test, released by the FCC, show that the high band causes problems for most existing GPS receivers but the low band doesn't. LightSquared's revised plan is to activate only the low band initially. Now just how much free service can be offered on the LightSquared network, especially limited to only half its spectrum, is a good question. Yea. Light speed is crashing before it even gets started. Re: [WISPA] Kazaa / Skype Founder wants to offer free FreedomPop 4G mobile broadband
It found that 69 of 92, or 75 percent, of receivers tested “experienced harmful interference” at the equivalent of 100 meters (109 yards) from a LightSquared base station. Really? . So what happens to every cell site that they build on that relies on GPS for sync and timing? I like where they say that in reality the system will only effect 10% of present GPS users at the power level they will be using. No as much of a big deal unless you are one of those 10% using GPS for surveying, or landing aircraft, or routing emergency vehicles to the scene of incidents, or It will be interesting to see where this goes. I hope they come up with a fix. I could use the install work -B- On 12/12/2011 9:06 AM, jch...@tritontelephone.com wrote: Yea. Light speed is crashing before it even gets started. [WISPA] 3650 MHz permission letters?
Does anyone have a standard letter to use to ask permission from satellite earth stations to use the 3650 MHz band within the 150 mile exclusion zone? Re: [WISPA] 3650 MHz permission letters?
You have to contact who manages the Satellite Earth Station and they usually have an application and various forms to fill out. If you're dealing with SES Americom, have fun. I don't know of one that they have approved. Pat On 12/12/2011 11:20 AM, Fred R. Thanks for the information. Much obliged. At 12/12/2011 04:12 PM, you wrote: SES Americom can be done. It's just not a easy process. Our first agreement with them took more than a year of legal wrangling. Since then we have successfully negotiated agreements with SES for another 5 towers and 3500 CPE. Michael C.
