Re: [WISPA] WISPA Board of Directors Election 2007
A minor note, in the interest of fair disclosure. The first page of the WISPA voting site displayed, briefly, incorrect voting instructions. (It said there were six candidates and that you could vote for up to six, where there are eleven candidates and you may vote for up to seven.) In the few minutes this was displayed, several people voted. You may wish to re-vote. Votes can be changed at any time, at will, until the close of the election. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. RE: [WISPA] WISPA Board
Those kind words aren't just lip service for the current standing board! All of you guys have put your heart and soul into this organization and the effort is not only paying off in members, but in recognition and results as well. I consider my membership in WISPA the most important of any memberships and consider it a privilege to be here. I still hold the thought that we will one day be a huge influential organization in D.C. as well as other trade organizations. Now as far as my seeking a seat on the board - I don't know about that! It would be a great privilege and honor, but that's something that would take a lot of thought as it would take a lot of commitment. I am not scared of a commitment to WISPA (I have done that already) - just thoughts of not being able to "tow the line" as all of you have towed the line thus far. I appreciate the recognition of the work "we" accomplished in Mississippi and Louisiana after hurricanes Katrina and Wilma, but that was a group effort by many men and organizations. I am proud to have been a part of it and proud to have lived through it both mentally and financially. :-) I can attest that I met some of the greatest people in my life during those times. I am also glad it's a "done deal" now. WISPA was a saving grace in that ordeal and once again - - it's nice to be a part of something where humanity, humility and genuine concern is not measured in U.S. dollars! Thanks again to all of WISPA who contributed money, food. Wireless gear, money and most of all - - THEIR TIME AND LABOR IN THE HEAT, HUMIDITY AND MOSQUITTOS! RE: [WISPA] WISPA Board
I feel the same way. I am hoping that everyone on the board today is willing to stay. You have accomplished so much in this last year...ie: membership is UP, progress is being made with the FCC with spectrum, individual state groups are being better organized to work together. I will second MAC on this and nominate the current board to stay on the board. Yes, they do still need to fill out an application, but there is no reason we can't accept nominations. It is up to the nominating party, to contact the nominee and have them fill out the application. RE: [WISPA] WISPA Board Application Announcement
Peter and others, Yes, please feel free to nominate candidates. I believe we still have an email address [EMAIL PROTECTED] but also send it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Follow the below procedure: Nominations Nominees must be a representative of a WISPA principal, vendor or associate member in good standing prior to the deadline for nominations. Nominations may come from the membership at large or from the Board of Directors. Nominations coming from the standing Board of Directors should include a letter of recommendation from the Director submitting the nomination. Nominations coming from a WISPA member should include a letter of recommendation from the member. Both the member submitting the nomination and the nominee must be members in good standing at the time the nomination is submitted. Board members completing their first term and wishing to serve a second 1-year term are required to submit their candidacy for re-election. Attendance records for all board meetings for the current term should be supplied along with the statement of intent to run. Credentials of prospective nominees will be reviewed and evaluated by the Nominating Committee, which is responsible for ensuring that a sufficient number of qualified candidates are available to stand for election. It shall be the sole responsibility of the Nominating Committee to recommend a proposed list of nominees to the Board of Directors for its approval. Following approval of the nominees by the Board of Directors, nominee's applications will be posted on the http://www.wispa.org website for review of the membership, as well as voting instructions and a ballot. Voting will be conducted an online ballot, and ballots will be tabulated by an objective third party, outside of the WISPA Secretariat.
