Let's hear your stories about the Laird acquisition of PacWireless. From what
I've heard:
They can't run the new warehouse worth a darn
Most if not all of the previous staff in Utah is being fired
Product shortages
Mounting kits not coming with the correct number of nuts
Better quality antennas
They are really slow, but before I get upset, I'll wait a month or so
until they get the bugs worked out. (Hopefully)

I've avoided them like the plague the last few months. Used to take 4
days to get me stuff from out west, now it takes 2-3 weeks to get stuff
to me from Chicago. And I'm in Michigan. CTI gets me everything next
day via ground shipping. Laird pretty much sucks.

My recent experience hasn't been very good. Ordered (4) 5.8 wideband
sectors. They sent the 4.9's. Took somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks to get
them, then took another 2-3 weeks to get the correct ones. I really hope
that they fix this - they've been solid as a rock in the past.

We placed an order yesterday. Usually we just buy from Pac directly. But
for some reason, not sure they referred my wife, the buyer to Streakwave.
Maybe that will be a better option in the future. Buying from the
resllers and avoiding direct sales.

Martha,
It sounds very similar to how we do it also. However, the mounting expenses
of Anti Spam services, mail sever software costs, etc... Have begun to
strike up this conversation. Email is one of the most expensive service

Not exactly what you want, but we're using this:
http://www.dinrelay.com/
Includes autoping, etc. Only downside I've seen so far is that the
"reboot" functions don't work correctly if you use all your dc circuits
in "NC" - normally closed mode. We do that at a solar site to conserve
power.
We charge for postini. $1.00 per month.

Well if you already have AC rebooters on Site, you can go with a AC

We charge $60/month for a domain with 10 or less addresses. We use
Hmailserver with the built in antispam and it works very good, and is open
source and free, runs on Windows.
I do get some spam but the false negatives are so infrequent I don't check
my spambox anymore.

Why don't you check into Postini? Charge $1 per month per account and let
them deal with it...
There's a Postini reseller on this list... Frank Muto.

We'll tell them you sent us. Looks perfect for so many things,

it had more relays, but we'll make do for now.

Email does not have to be a money pit. Ever since our dialup days (97-02) we
charged for email after the first account. Since 2003 email with spam
filtering, Postini of course was an add-on charge. When the first major
storms hit in mid-2005, all of our hosted accounts were put on AS/AV

Depends where you are. I'm looking to work with Roc Noc as they're near me
and just a tad closer than Laird themselves.
I'm having issues with the product itself when shipped from resellers (not
the right number of nuts), so that's nothing they can directly solve.

All I can think of would be to make it yourself. I know Panduit does some
custom work, but I'm not sure if it extends to what pins are connected on
cables. I'll ask.

Very valuable advice for any of you who are using OSPF on StarOS
Make sure that any of your point-to-point wireless links have the
statement "ip ospf network point-to-point" in each of your wireless
interface definitions, otherwise you are going to see the StarOS OSPF
act completely random
