SalesForce.com is based on SugarCRM? I would expect the latter to advertise the former's use of its product in bold letters on the front page, but can't find any documentation to support your assertion.

I looked at installing Dynamics - I'm a biz partner, so I
got all the stuff, and it still didn't work.

Not to mention being a total pig.

I hate ACT!, but it's still one of the only things out
there.

speaking of ACT and crm .. anyone use MS Business Contact Manager? Or
Dynamics? the latter looks like overkill. also - any favorite tricks for making
calls from the CRM through softphones or otherwise?

I'm not thrilled withACT either...but I'm so deep
into it that changing would be a major nightmare. The newest versions have
a sequel database that is a huge resource hog. I had to upgrade to a gig
of RAM on my laptop to get any kind of performance out of
it.

I"upgraded" tothe 2005 version and it had so
many bugs that they finally said that they were not going to update it anymore
and you had to buy the 2006 version...nice work if you can get it. The
good news is that the 2006 version seems pretty stable...albeit with a number of
flaky "features".

vtiger and sugarcrm are the best i've seen .. also looked at tinycrm, and maybe there's something there but it seems pretty rough. i might pull something out of it for integration with Plone, though, since both are python. and re: Plone, I recently read a blog about some integration with
salesforce.com, which might be really nice.best,-- Dylan OliverPrimaverity, LLC

SalesLogix and SalesForce.com spend big advertising dollars.
SugarCRM is the platform for SalesForce.com, which is moving deep into
the on-demand, hosted app space.
