The range can be quite high. Re: [WISPA] This comes up again and again - value of network
If you're buying the customers what you should look at is the revenue. At $41.67/mo/customer (or $500/customer) buyout seems very steep. If he's looking to get out and has no other options I am certain you can lower that price. Also express that a network of Ubnt, lots of private IPs, and a hassle expected once you take over isn't worth paying top dollar for. At 50/mo an ROI of 10 months you would need 90%+ profit. If the current owner is getting that I don't think he'd be wanting out. Re: [WISPA] This comes up again and again - value of network
assuming a monthly of $40 or so it doesn't seem out of line... A good starting point, IMHO is 1x yearly revenue. Re: [WISPA] This comes up again and again - value of network
10 months only if the $49.95 is pure profit. Presumably the ROI is really more like 40 months assuming you keep the customer for that long. That or I'm having a brain melt-down and confusing something. There was just recently (in the past week or so) a long discussion of valuations on the WISPA members list. You might look in the archives for a range of ways to look at the question. $500/customer doesn't seem that bad. If he's a small network you could probably install in the same area for your 100 bucks per.
