Since ODBC on MacOS X seems to have unknown failure modes, I'd like to try
jdbc instead. Only problem is there are no instructions for setting up. I
see snippets here and there about downloading drivers and putting them in
/library/java/extensions/mysql-connector-java-3.1.7-bin.jar
