"Table-less" just means tables aren't used for layout. When used to
contain tabular data, that's not layout, that's containing data that
SHOULD be in a table.

I'll look into the caching issues and see if that makes a difference.

I did try using COLGROUP and COL, but I couldn't get it to work. Is this
because it is poorly supported?

Geoff,
This was sort-of answered a few days ago, but it depends on the degree of
styling needed.
Ideally you could use descendant selectors - depending on your specific
need. With the use of correct table elements like th, thead, tbody, tfoot

A very nice design it is too.
I would re-write the WebTrends code so the page validates to W3C guidelines though

Firefox never had any problems with labels in my experience. It sounds more like your
problem is the javascript? (at least I'm assuming that's what you mean when you talk
about populating the fields)
Do you have a URL we can have a look at?

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Firefox handles the element as well as
any browser. Try Joe Clark's explanation:

Hi,
After completing a form with labels, as suggested in a usability
guideline I noticed firefox choked on them. None of the text fields
would populate until I removed the labels from them. Could some one
point me to a specification on proper implementation of labels.

Duncan,
You do need to get your head around this or you remain trapped in the
old mindset, which mixes content and appearance.
A table, unless it holds tabular data, has no semantic meaning.
Especially if you are using nested components. You are including it in
your HTML only for the purpose of
Hi, Duncan.
All the sites I design are based on CSS-driven layouts; however, I still use
tables for presenting tabulated data (naturally). Even the most hardcore CSS
junkie will admit that there are some table-based layouts that cannot be
replicated using just CSS. The usual way to get around this
