[WSG] Call for site check
Hello all, We have a huge website using CSS that is going out the door next month, and it is ready for testing after the 15th. This application is to go against some of the big search engine giants out there ran by large communication corporations (you know the ones I mean). Anyone interested can register for testing on http://www.clickfind.com.au/ Last time I made cash available for testers, however, for most people it was more the fun of being able to find holes/bugs that we did not! This time we'll offer a 6 month listing worth $119.70 for every bug/layout* concern found. Anyone interested can find a PDF with demo pages on http://www.clickfind.com.au/Clickfind-demo1.pdf and register for testing by submitting your email on http://www.clickfind.com.au/ or sending me an email on [EMAIL PROTECTED] We will provide more details closer to the testing. Thanks and looking forward hearing from you. *layout/css issues are to be accompanied with a full fix, any other issues, like application errors etc. can be reported on their own *** List Guidelines: http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm Unsubscribe: http://webstandardsgroup.org/join/unsubscribe.cfm Help: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ***

One other point, on FF 1.5, if I click to the left of the main column, it selects everything and makes things look a bit odd. I don't know if there's anything you can do about it but it's slightly annoying and can be confusing. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of kvnmcwebn Sent: 29 November 2005 15:34 To: wsg@webstandardsgroup.org Subject: RE: Fw: [WSG] Call for Site Check hello, "What do you all think about adding yellow as the primary link color?" -dont know but I think the new yellow is still to saturated for the secondary links, they are the focal point now. But the addition of a new color does help make the navigation more intuitive. What about the color thats in the search box or something like it for the secondary links? The photo thumb of the river (after you click the clouds) complements the blue really well. Trying samplesof that with an eyedropper might get you a good color aswell. Well thats what i would try anyway -best kvnmcwebn ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help ** ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help **

Re: Fw: [WSG] Call for Site Check
Thanks, Jay. yeay, the text on the slide rollovers was a pretty tough call - but in the end I decided on such low contrast text in order to keep the photo the primary focus. I'm not to worried about it, since the text is secondary content. Also, the banner is actually a duplicate link to the home page. (: Best regards, -Matt Harris www.focusontheclouds.com
Re: Fw: [WSG] Call for Site Check
Thanks for the input on www.focusontheclouds.com! kvnmcwebn, I have added in a yellow link color... FFCC00 stole the show, so I muted it with just a little blue to make it blend in better. What do you all think about adding yellow as the primary link color? Gunlaug, I have added a dark blue background, for visitors browsing the site without images. I really appreciate the comment - I would have completely missed it otherwise. Stephen, I tried a darker background in my comps, but the blue is so dark already that the main site area gets lost, when a darker background is added. I've strayed into new territory - opting for a slightly-risky, dark background instead of sticking with a classic white background. I'm interested to hear if you think it works... It looks very good. A couple of minor points: I find the graphic text on the slide rollovers a little hard to read -- especially the light on the over state. This, I think might be tough for people with lower contrast or smaller monitors. Is clicking on the cloud banner supposed to be an easter egg. There is no indication or direction that it rotates (loads new) lot of slides. I like it but you should tell people or at least give more than a hint than the outside border color change on hover. All the best, Jay

RE: [WSG] Call for Site Check
cool site, just a minor observation, the strong orange color is used alot, on main links, heads so on. Maybe throw another color into the mix to differentiate between hyperlinks and heads. maybe FFCC00, -best kvnmcwebn ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help **

Think you should give it a dark blue background-color too. RE: [WSG] Call for Site Check
It looks great on FF/Win. If anything, I would suggest that the overall page background be made even darker to bring out the Blue/Orange a bit. Everything should be working good in Firefox and Opera - only thing that is missing in IE is the hover effect for photo lists.
