Yes and no. Because Apple kept Safari secret up until the release of the
first beta, they pretty much forked the KHTML code base. Once Safari was
released, the bugfixes and improvements Apple made would be merged back
into Konqueror, but they will only be in the upcoming KDE 3.2 release (of
which the first beta is just out). Knoppix ships with KDE 3.1.4, hence its
version of Konqueror still lacks the Apple contributed code.

The next version of Knoppix should have KDE 3.2, so that could be an
option.

Just a bit of an update:

It's now possible to run both Internet Explorer 3 and Internet Explorer
4.01
in addition to 5.01sp2 and 5.5sp2 (and 6.0!) all on the one machine.

Get the gump here: http://www.skyzyx.com/archives/94.php

The files required are zipped and ready for exploitation.

Now all we windows users need is to get Mac IE and Safari running without
an
emulator. I can dream can't I?

Plus the fact that IE is supposedly so tightly integrated with the operating
system that it can't be a separate product :)

Hi Ralph

I think it's the other way round - Safari works off Konquerer.

I doubt MS would want people to run older versions of their products. I
think they have enough headaches keeping Winternet Explorer secure..

Cheers

Here's another link on how to install multiple versions of IE
(http://www.insert-title.com/web_design/?page=articles/dev/multi_IE).

I found this through links on

2003-11-06 Thread James Gollan

Finally someone's done it - that's brilliant.

The IE5.5 shows in the about IE section as being version 6, but it seems
to be 5.5, as it misinterprets the box model.

And you can run them open at the same time. Very cool.

Sorry for the cross post.

For those that haven't heard - someone has managed to get multiple
version
of IE running on their machine, someone else has grabbed the minimum
files
required to run IE5.01 and IE5.5 (about 3mb each) and posted them on
their
site.

Enjoy...

Cheers
