My radio is Yaesu FT757GX. Sometimes called it FT757GX-I. Not have
FT757GX-II.
rigctl-wsjtx.exe tested with both model, but without json trick.
Wsjt-X with json trick and graphically selected FT757GX in wsjt-x works
ok.
FT757GX to use fake_freq by default great idea.

It look like you have the FT-757GX which is a one-way communication rig and
explains why the json solution works with "-m 106" but "-m 107" does not.
