Hi Charles and all,

I started my investigation at the time as I have got an error message
while trying to build the user manual using asciidoctor-pdf. The message
says that the image file

./doc/user_guide/en/images/Q65_6m_ionoscatter.png is missing. I have
tried to get this file using git in order be in synchronisation with the
repo. This file was not on the repo.

Then I have examinated the user guide on…

https://www.physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/wsjtx-doc/wsjtx-main-2.4.0-rc2.html.
I was looking to the place where this missing file should be inserted
on. On the document from the www.physics.princeton.edu site, there is an
image at this place, but it's related to 2m, not to 6m. Therefore, it's
not the same image. Further, I have found, that the text just above the
image is different. My conclusion was that the two documents are
different. Joe has just confirmed my observation in his previous message.

[wsjt-devel] Feature Requests

2021-03-06 Thread Dave L via wsjt-devel
There are a couple of features I would find useful and I'm wondering if these
are possible for future inclusion...
In the "Colors" tab, would it be possible to add a list of specific call signs
that are watched for and highlighted when they are decoded? It would also be
nice to have a text file of call signs that we can add to ignore list so WSJT-X
won't display their decodes.___

The ~ is actually a shortcut for /Macintosh HD/Users/Username were Username is
the name of your home folder.

You can try /Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences directly.

Does that help?

John & Joe,

I had been using the previous version successfully on a MacBook Pro (Intel not
M1) OS Big Sur 11.2.2.

Today, I downloaded Mac version 2.4.0-rc2.

When running Q65, T/R = 30 seconds, Submode A, the program continues to
transmit after the 30 second period is complete for 60 seconds total. However,
it does not seem to drive my amplifier after 30 seconds. [PTT is activated for
the second 30 seconds, but no audio to drive the amp.] I have since tried FT8
on WSJT-X and can confirm that it works as usual. Thus, the problem seems to
be isolated to Q65.

I did follow the instructions in the Readme file.

If there is a file I can send you, please let me know.

I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide.

John,

The file that Bill sent to you should be placed in the ~/Library/Preferences
folder. This is the folder that your existing WSJT-X.ini file is located in.
You should be able to open the ~/Library/Preferences folder and simply grab the
attachment that Bill sent and drag it into that folder. When you are done you
should see both WSJT-X.ini and wsjtx_log_config.ini next to (or near) each
other in the list of files in that folder.

You can make the ~/Library folder visible in Finder with the following steps:

1. Open a Finder window.
2. Select your home directory in the left panel of the Finder window.
3. Select Show View Options under the “View” menu.
4. Check the “Show Library Folder” box.

 When running Q65, T/R = 30 seconds, Submode A, the program continues

John,

~/Library is usually a hidden directory in the finder. I made a symlink to it
called 'libr' that I use to get to it via the finder. You can see the Library
directory in terminal, so if you want to cp the file from a terminal session,
you can.

To create a symbolic link, in terminal type:

ln -s Library libr

Once created, you can see libr in finder and click into it.

Re: [wsjt-devel] RC2 Report on MacOS 10.14.6 Mojave - Q65_Sync

2021-03-06 Thread Bill Somerville

Hi John,

so I can see what is happening put the attached file into the WSJT-X
configuration files directory (~/Library/Preferences/ on macOS), restart
WSJT-X, run a minimal test to demonstrate the issue, then quit WSJT-X
(do not turn off the rig until WSJT-X has exited). There will be a new
file on your Desktop called WSJT-X_RigControl.log, send me that file for
analysis please (g4wjs classdesign com)?

Once you have sent me the log file delete the wsjtx_log_config.ini and
WSJT-X_RigControl.log files to resume normal operation.

John & Joe,

I had been using the previous version successfully on a MacBook
Pro (Intel not M1) OS Big Sur 11.2.2.

Today, I downloaded Mac version 2.4.0-rc2.

When running Q65, T/R = 30 seconds, Submode A, the program
continues to transmit after the 30 second period is complete for
60 seconds total.  However, it does not seem to drive my amplifier
after 30 seconds.[PTT is activated for the second 30 seconds, but
no audio to drive the amp.]  I have since tried FT8 on WSJT-X and
can confirm that it works as usual.  Thus, the problem seems to be
isolated to Q65.

I did follow the instructions in the Readme file.

If there is a file I can send you, please let me know.

Hi Claude,

WSJT-X can log the QSO, but as far as getting credit for it, trying to
upload to LoTW, eQSL, and the like will be problematic.   Remember when
FT4 first came out, people were loading to some online
logbooks/confirmation sites as MODE: FT4, then the ADIF committee came
out with the definition of MODE: MFSK, SUBMODE:  FT4, and a lot of
operators had to correct their uploads, local logs, etc.

Many local log programs have methods of making a local change to the
list of modes/submodes, so you can log to those and then change those
log entries 'en mass' to whatever the ADIF committee decides.
However, if you load to an online service, that's harder to correct.

That's what I meant about how to log the Q65 QSOs.

Hi Dirk,

so I can see what is happening please put the attached file into your
WSJT-X configuration files directory (on MS Windows that is the same as
the log files directory - "Menu->File->Open log directory"), then
restart WSJT-X and run a minimal test that demonstrates one of the
issues, then quit WSJT-X. There will be a new file on your Desktop
called WSJT-X_RigControl.log, send that to me for analysis please (g4wjs
 classdesign com).

Once you have sent the log file you should delete the
wsjtx_log_config.ini and WSJT-X_RigControl.log files to revert to normal
operation.

Hi Dirk,

if this is happening when you change bands then it is because SPLIT
was set the last time  that band was used on the rig. If you disable
SPLIT it should be fine the next time you change to that band. The
same applies for other bands. The change in behaviour is that WSJT-X,
via Hamlib, is changing bands on your rig as if you have clicked the
target band button before changing to the target frequency in that
band. The reason for the change is that other settings are also
recalled per band like the aerial socket, pre-amp settings, etc..

Hi Erik,

there are two ways to highlight callsigns, you can set the "Highlight
last" field to true to highlight a callsign in the batch of decodes from
the last Rx period, or you can set the "Highlight last" field to false
which highlights *all* instances of the specified calllsign in the Band
Activity window list. As is stated in the documentation
(https://sourceforge.net/p/wsjt/wsjtx/ci/master/tree/Network/NetworkMessage.hpp#l444)
using this message with "Highlight last" set to false should be reserved
for a few special cases, we recommend that the normal case should only
send messages with "Highlight last" set to true.

The consequence of the "Highlight last" flag is to shift responsibility
between server and client as to which should maintain a list of
currently Highlighted callsigns. When "Highlight last" is sent as true
the server need not keep a record of highlighted callsigns, but must
review every decode to decide if highlighting is required, conversely if
"Highlight last" is set to false the server should keep its own list of
highlighted callsigns so that they can be reset when required.

Hi Dave and Kevin,

we have finally tracked down the cause of this crash, thanks for your
patience it was not so easy to track down. It is repaired for the next
release, for now if you do not use of the Q65_Sync Wide Graph
synchronization plot the crash will be avoided. Note this is not a Mac
specific issue although it does seem to have the most severe effects on
that platform.

I have saved the crash dump and can provide as necessary.

Re: [wsjt-devel] Release candidate: WSJT-X 2.4.0-rc2

2021-03-06 Thread Reino Talarmo
Hi Claude,

The issue is that there is a common target to have all multiFSK, multiMSG,
multiGSK etc. modes under a single MFSK mode as submodes. Currently this is
under "standardization" in adif group and WSJT-X applies in RC just mode and
puts there Q65 as it did at introduction of FT4.

Simply said WSJT-X logs Q65 QSOs, but in future it would change logging format.
