Re: [wsjt-devel] Test with DXpedition mode 12 May
Hi Bobby, That does work nicely if you prepare for an upcoming DXpedition. But when you come across a DXpedition in progress you want to switch quickly without loosing any information. If you then use Configurations, the software restarts which not only takes time but you also revert to some previously configured frequency, callsign, reset the Band Activity window etc. 73, Ton PA0TBR On 12 May 2018 at 23:36, Bobby Chandler wrote: > PA0TBR > I just set a config for Fox/Hound and only put the frequencies for > DXpedition mode in it. [wsjt-devel] Test with DXpedition mode 12 May
Many thanks for the tests today. I run in the test with v1.9.0-rc4 r8642 With the weak signals today I did notice a problem. During the QSO with K1JT, I was still repeating Tx3 when Joe informed me by pingjockey that I was in the log. Normally I would restart from Tx1 when I time out and have not seen the RR73. The Tx3 msg is repeated 12 times before it times out. I now understand that the Fox gives up after 3 RR73 messages. Question: Should Tx3 not stop after 3 or maybe 6 attempts? That would trigger me to restart with Tx1. After my QSO with G4WJS I changed my call for a 2nd test and ended up transmitting on 14.074 and missed on a 2nd QSO. Cause: When the menu is exited via an OK button then the frequency is changed to the default frequency. A configurable color for decodes of FT8 messages in Fox mode would be very useful so that DXpedition mode can be identified and Dog mode enabled. An easier method to switch to Hound mode and back would be nice. Maybe a checkbox on the main window or an FT8-Hound option in the Mode drop down menu. When I entered a frequency in the "band box" of WSJT-X the "Enable Tx" button is triggered. I now see that it is triggered by the Enter button. That came a bit unexpected and made me wonder why my transmitter was running... This also happens in other modes. Question: Is tis intentional and can it be configured to ignore the nEter button? 73, Ton PA0TBR -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot___ wsjt-devel mailing list wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel

First hour signal was +3 and I got -24 I started with 20 watts and ended to 200 watts, when I got that -24dB report. Second hour hear best -8dB and started again from 20 watts went up to 1K and didn't get w7/kh7z :(. Tried several places, no lucky. At the end of test last decoded signal was -15dB. Actually all NA stations was between -5 to -18 dB. Hounds were between +17 to -24dB, that +17 was one RY station :) So, now the most important thing is to find suitable freq. and operators learning course :) Quite fine test anyway... Re: [wsjt-devel] Test messages
Hi Michael and Bill The meaning of the single tones for JT4 are as follows: 1000 Hz = tune 1250 Hz = please send messages 1500 Hz = RRR 1750 Hz = 73 Joe still intends to provide the same single tone messages for QRA64 as they are about 4 dB easier to detect than the QRA64 progressive AP system. But at present we manually insert them for QRP EME using the @ feature. Not sure if it is relevant to what Michael is doing but JT4f and QRA64 use messages of the form Call+Call+signal report rather than OOO and RO style signal reports. I am also not sure what is the intended use of the test messages but WSJT-X already includes simulators that can be used for testing that provide messages with specified S/N and spreading. The shape of the spreading does vary with frequency and G3WDG has produced simulators that can be inserted in WSJT-X for JT65, JT4 and QRA that use spreading shapes specific to 10 GHz EME. In the long run it might be useful to have the simulators with adjustable shapes for each band but this is not a priority. 73 Rex VK7MO From: Bill Somerville [mailto:g4...@classdesign.com] Sent: Friday, 28 April 2017 5:21 AM To: wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [wsjt-devel] Test messages On 27/04/2017 20:15, Black Michael wrote: So sounds like JT4 need the same added messages as JT65/JT9 Hi Mike, no I don't think so. Mike -- Whatever tests you might choose to do would have more value if they were your own -- i.e., independent of tests already done by others. If you want representative JT9 and JT65 data, set up in dual mode on 14.076, on a weekend in daytime, check "Save all", and let it run for all day. In ten hours you'll have 600 files and probably 5000 or more decodes. -- Joe, K1JT On 1/15/2016 4:45 PM, Michael Black wrote: > Do we have a link where some of the test files used previously might be > available along with test scripts? > Back when testing was being done during the improvements there were several > hundred files being used but I can't find any reference/link for them. > > RRR > Mike W9MDB > > > > > -- > Site24x7 APM Insight: Get Deep Visibility into Application Performance > APM + Mobile APM + RUM: Monitor 3 App instances at just $35/Month > Monitor end-to-end web transactions and take corrective actions now > Troubleshoot faster and improve end-user experience. Do we have a link where some of the test files used previously might be available along with test scripts? Back when testing was being done during the improvements there were several hundred files being used but I can't find any reference/link for them. I have checked the WSPRnet.org spotting code and I can see that spotting will stop if there is a delay or error uploading spots. I have changed it to resume spotting on the next period if possible.
