Very simple, really.
Just a matter of making sure you have the various packages installed first.
Look at the xastir wiki and see if there's a "

Just key in the number and see what happens. I predict a larger font, but
I do have xfontsel in the font menu but like I said in previous email highest
it goes is 17 on size. I do not know how to get bigger fonts to appear in it. I
did see in past emails on Adobe but I don't not show listing for Adobe in the
menu. Do I have to specify a path to look for them?

You only have to rebuild in order to make the "fxontsel" button on the xastir
font menu button work. You can just bring up a command prompt and type
xfontsel to bring up the command.
And you can start by just increasing the pxlSz number (18, etc example in my
previous email).

on my prehistoric ubuntu 10.04, it comes with the package x11-utils
and lives in /usr/bin.

OK, which xfontsel gives me /usr/bin/xfontsel,
I did go into the file/config/font and tried to adjust things somewhat. I got
the fonts to enlarge little bit but for the guy I am trying to help I am not
sure it's enough magnification. The most I was able to get was 17dpi. If I can
get 24 dpi might be better for him. Any thoughts?

That's probably a config file with default settings for xfontsel, not the
executable itself.

Interesting.
Just checking here on this Debian machine, xfontsel is greyed out.
x11-utils is installed
and contains
/etc/X11/app-d
Jerry,
You may need to go into "Synaptic Package Manager" if it does not show
up in "Ubuntu Software Center".
The package that contains "xfontsel" is called *"x11-utils"*.
You install it in the operating system.

It's an old X11 utility. It's on my ubuntu machine and i didn't do
anything special to get it, beyond loading what i needed to build
xastir.
if you bring up
Is xfontsel something I get from Ubuntu software center or web based program?
And do I install it in xastir or the operating system

That's an understatement. :/
