[xcat-user] Leaving xCAT world

2017-11-28 Thread Chris Samuel
Hi folks, After almost 8 years of using xCAT here I'm moving on to a new HPC job where I'm afraid xCAT is not used, and so I'm leaving the list. Thanks so much to everyone for your help over the years, and for all the work you've put into xCAT, it's made life so much easier for us. We've run

'localdisk' feature is also supported for 'stateless' node in case there are some special requirements to leverage the local disk.   You could check your rootfs directory for your stateless osimage, you can see './etc/rc.d/init.d/localdisk' is there (it is installed from `rc.localdisk`). And it

Mike, Thanks. We are doing the same thing in our earlier version of the cluster, and I may do it again. That approach only gets me halfway there, though; I still have to find a way to automatically create an SSH key pair for each user, and copy the public key to the authorized keys file. And I

Kevin, We, and I believe most sites, utilize some form of shared storage (NFS, CIFS/Samba, or some parallel FS) for home directories which will remove the need to do any kind of user data synchronization. Just make sure the home directory is mounted in the same place on all machines in the

Thank you, Xiao and Yuan. Both of these commands seem to be useful for giving ordinary users access to xCAT, or in the case of xdsh actually requires that. But that's not really what I'm looking for. My users shouldn't have any need to manage the cluster nor be involved with xCAT at all; I just

Yuan Bai hello, I did follow exactly those instructions (although I am pretty sure the litefile table part is not needed for the stateless image) but I still see nothing happening on the nodes. I suspect that either there is no piece of code for stateless that handle localdisk or I am missing
