discovered that there is an X-server
specifically for Permedia 2 video cards. I installed this server and
everything worked!
Thanks again,

It could be, you can always check which files you should have for the
glint driver to work.
Via google.com you should find plenty
and config files.
Thanks for any ideas,

I installed linux slackware 9.1 with X version 4.3.0
and when I run some apps that require this extension
I get the error: Xlib: extension SHAPE missing on display :0.0
I have been using X for almost 10 years and have never run
into this error. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling
X
Man I just love it when things are simple like that.
That did it, Thanks a lot.
In the XF86Config file, Section Module, add:
Load extmod

that vidio chip is listed but I always got fatal server error. Using

They work great. Great definition and clarity. On first attempt to

been
using is the Custom setting for the Video Card. I might be getting the X

able to get a half screen.
Any suggestion would be appreciated

remove the matrox hal module.
do you mean /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/mga_hal_drv.o?
-configure or manually edit your
config file.

Attached is the /var/log/XFree86.0 and the last XF86Config I'm using. Someone said that they read that the card I'm using only works properly at a DefaultDepth of 16, so I changed all that too.
I really appreciate your help.

Where can I get the source for xset? I've looked all over the web site and

What I would really like is the code to blank and unblank the screen much like

I don't know what the hack would be. Also, I can only communicate using
windows XP so I have to enter everything in windows. This is why I
haven't attached any of the config files.

Now that I know how to transfer files between operating systems, I am attaching my
XF86Config-4 file as a windows text file. It is not very different from the one sent
to me by
Mr. Lecoq.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.
