Maybe you both can agree in some kind of simple plugin interface on

One hint about mem usage:
On some shells, the variable content needs to be quoted:
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL="2.4.1" instead of LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
To be sure that this is recogniced globally under your shell,
you should put it into /etc/profiles, not into the XMail startup script.

I see .. reading incoming DATA (including the header) and passing
control to an extenal thread while buiffers are still receiving
can be tricky. YOu're right. this one should be skipped and filtes

Foget this one. It's a better idea to fire the event after each
RCPT_TO. So the script can react directly and it's easier to
implement.

That's the point!
Furthermore a scripter could implement bandwidth throttling by counting incoming SMTP
connections during a certain timeframe.
Exceeding connections could get a 'try again later' result code. Such hooks would make
things flexible to the max.

Hi Davide,
is there a chance to see SMTP dialog filter hooks in the next release?
This would make the filtering engine more flexible:
You could check the RCPT_TO and act before the message is accepted.
E.g. checking a forwarding target server, if the user exists there,

HI ...
This looks like a threading problem to me.
Add the following line to your XMail startup script, usually located in
/etc/init.d/xmail :
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=3D2.4.1
This forces the kernel to use the older standard threading scheme.
Restart XMail after this modification.
