1. Enable logging via command lind switches:

OK, in Thunderbird Account Settings I changed the username field from
user to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. It worked for one of the accounts:

I have never written my own filter, but I am guessing I need to do

Would it be possible to add a STATUS field to XMail's POP3 logs - something
to indicate whether a login was successful or not, and if not successful
perhaps some indicator of why it failed? Something similar to the STATUS
field in the SMTP logs would be great

Yes ASSP was Great to me for the longest time.
Then one day we could not send emails they would time out untill I
stopped ASSP and ran xmail on its own.

to do it via installing CygWin will result in a serial mode SpamAssassin
install. No SpamD, no DCC, no Razor, and no Pyzor.
2) Serial mode SpamAssassin is FAR FAR slower than using SpamD (which is a

SpamAssassin. SpamC is a drop-in replacement for the SpamAssassin calls.
