[xmail] Multiple emails with multiple recipients
Hi. I installed Xmail (1.9-pre01) yesterday on a Win NT4 (installed same=20 morning, no SPs yet) to use as an internal mail server (slightly overkill,= =20 but :-) ) and get the same problem as has been reported by someone else= =20 earlier. When sending a mail to multiple recipients (all are using Win98=20 first edition and Outlook Express 5.00.), most of the times all=20 repcipients receive several mails. The machines are set up with multiple=20 accounts each and using rulesets (if To: contains transfer to folder=20 ) to transfer mails for the different persons to their respective=20 folders. On some machines, if a mail is sent to two persons using the same= =20 machine to check mail, each person get two mails. On another machines, one= =20 person gets both mails I suspect that it might be both a Win98/Outlook= =20 Express issue and possibly a Xmail issue. Anyone have a clue about what can= =20 be done? No. Just stock install. Set up server.tab, ctrlaccounts.tab and ctrl.ipmap.tab, and used XMail Administrator 0.21e to create domain and users. No fancy or advanced setup, just what was needed to get it up and running... [xmail] Re: Multiple emails with multiple recipients
Checked today, and no mailproc.tab in the useraccounts. Only Mailbox, ..ipconn and useruser.tab. I also checked with my server (1.6 on Linux) using Eudora 5.1/win2k to send/check local mails and there also both mails to the two test-accounts ended up in the same folder. I think this might be a filter issue in the mail-program since the filter can only be set up to check To:, not Delivered-to:, and To: will have all the recipients, while Delivered-to: will have only one recipient. Stig Btw, what is the best way to upgrade the mail-server? Just copy the Xmail-executable from the tarball and replace the file in MailRoot/bin? After the service is stopped, of course :-) At 15:55 07.06.2002 -0700, you wrote: On Sat, 8 Jun 2002, Stig [iso-8859-1] =D8stvang wrote: I can check tomorrow (the server is in a shop) and I'm running 1.9-pre0= 1. I'm not quite sure. We had a user specific that they didn't want to have SpamAssassin running for their domain, and since I figured this was possible for other of our customers, I made a filter entry for each domain that should be using the filter. This required setting the second column to [EMAIL PROTECTED]. For some reason, it took me a real long time to get the syntax just right. For most standard filters (applied to all users) using the two wildcards *[tab]* worked fine. I've never tried using the AV filter myself (since I don't have any installed virus software). Let us know what the specifics are for your filter, i.e. is it just for selected users, a selected domain, or all users, and we can probably give you better feedback on what your filters.in.tab file should look like. To me it looks like the Sourceforge list is complaining that his mailserver= =20 doesn't accept nullsender addresses (which there was a discussion about a=20 year ago to block nullsender to fight spam, and the consensus was that it=20 doesn't help much, breaks RFC and prevent bounces, just like the=20 Sourceforge server complains about). [xmail] Problem with xbmf filter
Hi. I've noticed in my logs (/var/log/messages) that the xbmf filter have some problems. It says SMTP filter error (-92): Filter = /var/MailRoot/filters/xbmf, and according to the list of error codes this means ERR_FORK. I tried to download the source and recompile it, but the problem persists. Any idea what could cause this and how it can be fixed? [xmail] Best anti-spam for Xmail
Hi, all. Can anyone tell me what the best anti-spam solution for Xmail is? I've found Spamassassin, dspam, assp, but I don't know which one works best with xmail. For assp it looks like I would need to send all outgoing mail through it as well. How does that work when I have to send all outgoing mail through my ISP? Re: [xmail] Best anti-spam for Xmail
Thanks for the suggestions (and warning) about ASSP. I've set up ASSP in testmode according to the documentation in the wiki, but it delays every mail. I guess it's not a big problem, but a bigger problem is that I can't send mail to EmailWhitelistAdd to whitelist addresses. If I use only EmailWhitelistAdd, I get '501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments: [-132]'. I I try to send to EmailWhitelistAdd@mydomain, I get '550 Mailbox unavailable'. ASSP has been set up to listen to port 25 and send on port 26, xmail has been set up to listen to port 26 and no changes in my mail program. Anyone have any suggestions how I can whitelist addresses? [xmail] Problem with Xmail and ASSP
Hi, all. I'm running xmail 1.27, ASSP 1.9.1.3 and Telaen.org 1.1.2 webmail. Before I installed ASSP, I didn't have any problems with xmail and Telaen, but after I installed ASSP I can't send mail using the webmail. It's set up to use SMTP. Unless I have used a regular mail client shortly before. If I close down my regular email client and wait for a while (I don't know exactly how long I have to wait), I can't send mail using the webmail. Reading mail is no problem. I have enabled SMTP logging in the webmail, bur I can't really see why it fails, so I'm hoping that some of the other users using ASSP as well have any suggestions. When I have a successful delivery, I get the following output: SMTP - get_lines(): $data was SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 220 oestvang.no 1329736597.2770332...@oestvang.no [XMail 1.27 ESMTP Server] service ready; Mon, 20 Feb 2012 12:16:37 +0100 SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 220 oestvang.no 1329736597.2770332...@oestvang.no [XMail 1.27 ESMTP Server] service ready; Mon, 20 Feb 2012 12:16:37 +0100 SMTP - FROM SERVER: 220 oestvang.no 1329736597.2770332...@oestvang.no [XMail 1.27 ESMTP Server] service ready; Mon, 20 Feb 2012 12:16:37 +0100 SMTP - get_lines(): $data was SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250-oestvang.no SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250-oestvang.no SMTP - get_lines(): $data was 250-oestvang.no SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250-VRFY SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY SMTP - get_lines(): $data was 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250-ETRN SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN SMTP - get_lines(): $data was 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250-8BITMIME SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-8BITMIME SMTP - get_lines(): $data was 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-8BITMIME SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5 SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-8BITMIME 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5 SMTP - get_lines(): $data was 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-8BITMIME 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5 SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250 SIZE SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-8BITMIME 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5 250 SIZE SMTP - FROM SERVER: 250-oestvang.no 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-8BITMIME 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5 250 SIZE SMTP - get_lines(): $data was SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250 OK SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250 OK SMTP - FROM SERVER: 250 OK SMTP - get_lines(): $data was SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 250 OK SMTP - get_lines(): $data is 250 OK SMTP - FROM SERVER: 250 OK SMTP - get_lines(): $data was SMTP - get_lines(): $str is 354 Start mail input; end with .
