[Zappa-List] Help, please - I'm looking for 200 Motels CD

2008-07-04 Thread Bart
Good day Folks,
I live in Poland (UE). I need to get 200 Motels (2cd) which is as you
all well know long time out of print. It's impossible to buy in my
country. I also couldn't find it in other regular internet shops I know.
Can you tell or show me where can I buy one copy of this particular copy
for reasonably price (the cheaper the better).
Or perhaps some of you want to sell it. If someones offer would be fair
I can send you a money (US dollars or euro) hidden in the envelope via
post, as I don't have any pay pal thingie or suchies. I only have credit
cards (but as I understand that's good for official shops me reckon).
Or I can trade - for instance I could buy here some brand new other cd
records you ask (not necessarily FZ) and send it out. Of course if only
I could get the requested ones.
Or you tell me your terms.
I'm interested in well preserved (good condition) discs, including
booklet, poster and obi wan kenobi ;-).
Any offers, suggestions?
Bart

That's great, Bart.
From my experience every item you want will sooner or later turn up on Ebay.
And if it's too expensive the first time, it may turn up cheaply a little
while later.

best wishes,
Marco

[Zappa-List] MOI mentioned in an Ivan Doig book

2008-07-04 Thread marc rosen
Hey All,
My wife enjoys reading books by Ivan Doig and since I can't read or
write she transcribed this passage from one of his books;

From the novel Mountain Time by Ivan Doig, copyright 1999

Page 43

Site: Washington State .in a field carpeted with several thousand
other zonked-out souls. When yet another of those funny-looking
cigarettes made its way around to him.

Chords of the Mothers of Invention's Freak Out jangled out of the
earnest but challenged band that had set up on the flatbed of a sod-
hauling truck. The platform of piled-together logs where the piano was
to hit loomed like a sacrificial altar. The crowd splashdanced in the
creek or cavorted in the farm fields, green pastures of pharmacopia.

Marc (who can really read and write but thought his intro would be amusing
to some)

[Zappa-List] re: cleverest Zappa song

2008-07-04 Thread Eli Marcus
Of course, Frank was such a sharp wit, a genius both with music and with
words,
and all of You Are What You Is has great dialog, and there are certainly
many classic verses that we have all memorized from Joe's Garage and
Sheik Yerbuti
but when it comes to something that gets you in your mind and in your
gut (laughing that is),
I think my all time favorite cleaver Zappa song would be Cosmik Debris

The mystery man came over
And he said Im outta sight!
He said for a nominal service charge
I could reach nirvana tonight
If I was ready, willing and able
To pay him his regular fee
He would drop all the rest of
His pressing affairs and devote
His attention to me

But I said look here brother
Who you jiving with that cosmik debris?
Now who you jiving with that cosmik debris?
Look here brother, dont waste your time on me

The mystery man got nervous
And he fidget around a bit
He reached in the pocket of his mystery robe
And he whipped out a shaving kit
Now I thought it was a razor
And a can of foaming goo
But he told me right then when the top popped open
There was nothin his box wont do
With the oil of aphrodite, and the dust of the grand wazoo
He said you might not believe this, little fella
But itll cure your asthma too

And I said look here brother
Who you jiving with that cosmik debris?
Now what kind of a guru are you, anyway?
Look here brother, dont waste your time on me
(dont waste your time)

Ive got troubles of my own, I said
And you cant help me out
So, take your meditations and your preparations
And ram it up your snout!
But I got the crystal ball, he said
And held it to the ligh
So I snatched it, all away from him
And I showed him how to do it right

I wrapped a newspaper round my head
So I looked like I was deep
I said some mumbo-jumbo, then
I told him he was going to sleep
I robbed his rings and pocketwatch
And everything else I found
I had that sucker hypnotized
He couldnt even make a sound
I proceeded to tell him his future, then
As long as he was hanging around
I said the price of meat has just gone up
And your old lady has just gone down!

And I said look here brother-who you
Jiving with that cosmik debris?
Now is that a real poncho or is that a sears poncho?
Dont you know, you could make more money as a butcher?
So, dont waste your time on me
Dont waste it, dont waste your time on me
(shanti)

Re: [Zappa-List] re: cleverest Zappa song

2008-07-04 Thread darrellcurtis06
The initial question verges on cruel, because it really is impossible to pick
one song. I'm reminded of the section at the end of Goblin Girl where
Doreen is reprised and it is reharmonized for the key that Goblin Girl is
in. Damn, that is some really clever musicianship.
