Re: [zd1211-devs] Help needed : F5D7050 USB key on Debian Etch is not working]
Never mind. I guess I'm not familiar with getting the latest zd1211rw for 2.6.21 I see the date Alian posted on was after Sebastian's note on 5/5. And now with Daniels tests and recommending a AL2230S device, I assume it's working now. I'm using Suse 10.2 and was using their kernel source for 2.6.21 at: http://software.opensuse.org/download/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_10.2/ Even though it's dated May 19th, it has the AL2230S check still in (per my last message). Can some kind soul please explain what I need to do to get the latest/stable zd1211rw code into a 2.6.21 kernel? I wanted you to know that it's been blacklisted or patched out due to some problem with the RF side? So as a warning, don't update your kernel. Re: [zd1211-devs] Help needed : F5D7050 USB key on Debian Etch is not working
All, please check the sources of your kernel for a file drivers/net/ wireless/zd1211rw/zd_usb.c. There you find the list of supported USB ids. Adding a new one should be easy. Do you see any messages in dmesg or /var/log/kern.log? If the firmware has been successfully loaded you will see the device with iwconfig. I think that 2.6.21 has some bugfixes that were not present in 2.6.18 (at least one is about initialization of zd1211b devices), regardless of the fact that that particular USB ID were listed in the driver code or not. -- Virtual Bit di Lucio Crusca via Isonzo, 5 10069 - Villar Perosa (TO) http://virtualbit.sulweb.org -- --- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. [zd1211-devs] Help needed : F5D7050 USB key on Debian Etch is not working
Hello all, I am having a problem with a Belkin F5D7050 v4000uk USB WLAN adaptor (zd1211b) on a Debian Etch distro (kernel 2.6.18) zd1211rw module is loading correctly, as I can see it with lsmod USB key is correctly recognized as I can see it in the output of lsusb -v, last version of firmware is present in /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware which is, I think, the correct location for Debian output of dmesg doesn't complain about cannot load firmware or else and I am still unable to see a wireless interface with ifconfig Do I have to create the interface from scratch ? or recompile the module coming from latest kernel source ? Any help would be greatly appreciated Alain -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Help-needed-%3A-F5D7050-USB-key-on-Debian-Etch-is-not-working-tf3753690.html#a10608016 Sent from the zd1211-devs mailing list archive at Nabble.com. - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
