Daniel Lindenaar got the same ehci controller than me : a VIA one.

No.
I tried a patch in 2.6.19 git tree that address some echi via hardware bug,
but it didn't solve the problem.

Probably the hardware errors in the controller were too severe for the
driver to handle.

I think you should stop using that EHCI controller. Buy a cheap add-on
PCI USB controller card.

Can you direct us towards the discussion where it was decided that this
is a USB host problem? Is there a patch? Downgrading to USB 1.0 is not
an acceptable fix.

Please report this at http://bugzilla.kernel.org (assign to me) so that

Anyways, i'm very happy with the rw driver. It's the first driver that

Ok, if the disconnect() is called unregister_netdev() is called,
which should stop the interface, which will then disable the

Sounds unlikely, but the logs do seem to indicate that. Enabling

I got the same problem again.

I am under the impression that network interface is still present.
So it is ether an usb-core bug not calling disconnect or the disconnect
that hang somewhere (deadlock, ...).

On this trace you could see that after usb disconnect, before I notice I
could still use the interface (eth2) with wireshark...

I'm pretty sure the disconnect is caused by the device firmware bug.
ZyDAS haven't fixed this yet. Nevertheless the LED-related hang
(infinite loop) that you saw after the disconnect is/was a driver bug.

Looks like the housekeeping work functions rescheduled themselves after
the disconnect. There was a possible race where this might have happened
for a short time, but it is believed to be fixed now. So this all
depends on the date of your snapshot.
