Buddha did not reject anything that is real, but he gave plenty of warning
about reactions of senses (emotions are the strong ones). He says the senses
are 'burning' with greed, anger and delusion. So don't play with fire.

Why do you have to respond to perceptions with emotions? You could do it with
equanimity. I know it is difficult (sometimes I bang at my desk), but can we
treat it as one of the objectives of zen?
