I hate to wreck the party, which is a lot of fun, but I believe a "depression" is
an outmoded word (which in turn replaced financial panic (as in the panic of
1837). A depression is, iirc, defined by two successive quarters of negative
growth. The US had a recession; Canada hasn't had one (yet; le

We are far short of a depression. We only have 5% unemployment, and the
economy is rather stable. A depression means our Gross Domestic Product
would shrink by over 75%. The stock market has done some shrinking, but
our economy is not. And even the markets have stabilized. The Dow is
staying above
