Re: [zones-discuss] How to get new ZFS Solaris 10 U3 features going from Solaris 10 U2
I saw it on Sun's website. It was a link from the download page for 11/06. Either I misread the document or they've changed something. I could have sworn it said that any zones will NOT be upgraded. Oh well, I guess I should have asked in here before lowing away all my zones :-( . --- Jeff Victor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Chris Greenman wrote: > >>From my understanding, the only way is to perform > a > > system upgrade (regular or live upgrade). If you're using netinstall or DVD media (rather than CDs), then you should have the standard upgrade option available even if you have non-global zones installed, and the option does in fact upgrade the zones as well. It does not work with Live Upgrade or from CDs, though; if you use LU or CDs, you can upgrade that way only if you have no non-global zones installed. The zones upgrade feature was shipped as part of the very first Solaris 10 Update release. The Zulu project that just integrated into Nevada (and is headed for a future S10 Update) will extend this support to Live Upgrade, so that all the upgrade mechanisms are supported. -- James Carlson, KISS Network<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sun Microsystems / 1 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677 ___ zones-discuss mailing list zones-discuss@opensolaris.org

You can upgrade a zoned system with Standard Upgrade. It upgrades the zones. But please see http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#sa_upgrade for some important details. If anyone has any other info, please post. Inquiring minds want to know :-). --- David Smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: We currently have a couple of servers at Solaris 10 U2, and we would like to get to Solaris 10 U3 for the new zfs features. Can this be accomplished via patching, or do you have to do an upgrade from S10U2 to S10U3? Also what about a system with Zones? What is the best practice for upgrading a system with zones?
