[Zope] zope.org site and limited search results

2005-08-16 Thread Jaroslav Lukesh
Dear zopistas,

few times ago I was few times wrote to ZC webmaster about limited query to
Zope Products search results (see attached picture) - in any case it does not
find more than 200 results. Nothing to do. If somebody has enough power to
initiate zope.org webmaster, please tell him about change number of results
from database at "advanced" tab of appropriate ZSQL method (if it is not
defined somewhere else).

Note, that "old" zope site does not has this limit.

Many thanks,

afaic there is no SQL involved in this search. It should be a full
ZCatalog query.

[Zope] ZEO troubles on RedHat EL4 Linux

2005-08-16 Thread Andreas Krasa // ZID
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello everybody!

We are encountering some really strange problems with Zope 2.7.7 on our
RedHat EL 4 Linux machines.

During the Zope 2.7.7 compilation works - however most of the time "make
test" returns a random number of errors (somewhere between 20 and 30)
ALL related to ZEO.

The funny thing is, we've managed to do a "make test" without any
failures - however after doing a "make distclean" and compiling
everything again "make test" produces the above mentioned errors (using
*exactly* the same source code!).

I have absolutely no idea how this can happen - ANY hints are
appreciated! Is this a known issue? What could it be related to?

Thanks a lot!

Andreas Krasa

No. For example, it doesn't happen in the daily overnight testrunner reports.

> What could it be related to?

ZEO ? You'll have to give more info about which tests fail, and
precisely how they fail. Because many of the ZEO tests create
multiple processes, and try to assign sockets so that these processes
can communicate, they're vulnerable to vagaries of OS process
scheduling and socket use by other apps. For example, on a slow or
overburdened (with other simultaneous work) machine, some ZEO tests
can fail due to not getting enough cycles soon enough. The worst
tests of that sort wait as long as a minute now for another process to
"do something" they're waiting for before failing, but not even
waiting a minute can _guarantee_ success.

Might be informative to run the tests on an otherwise-quiet machine.

Thank you Tim for the feedback!

Our system is a Intel Xeon 3 GHz Dual-CPU with 2.5 GB RAM running
RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 (SElinux disabled).

As this is a test-machine it doesn't run any CPU-consuming tasks I can
think of - the server load is usually somewhere between 0.00 and 0.10.

But I'll check that nevertheless!

I just downloaded and ran all tests for Zope 2.7.7 on one of my

and they all ran fine.

This must be something having to do either with your specific

Re: [Zope] ZEO troubles on RedHat EL4 Linux

2005-08-16 Thread Tim Peters
[Andreas Krasa]

So you showed a number of test errors here, all on line 121 of
ConnectionTests.py. They all seem indentical to the first one:

> ERROR: checkMultipleAddresses
> (ZEO.tests.testConnection.MappingStorageConnectionTests)
> --
> Traceback (most recent call last):
> File
> "/usr/local/src/__zope__/Zope-2.7.7-final/lib/python/ZEO/tests/ConnectionTests.py",
> line 121, in tearDown
>os.waitpid(pid, 0)
> OSError: [Errno 10] No child processes

That's peculiar for several reasons, and-- sorry --I have no theory to offer.

Because the failure is in tearDown(), the test body has _completed_.
If there's no other failure reported for this test, that means the
test succeeded. Instead it's dying while it's tearing the test
framework down.

Some of the ZEO tests create additional processes. The place it's
dying is in this teardown loop:

def tearDown(self):
"""Try to cause the tests to halt"""

...

for pid in self._pids:
os.waitpid(pid, 0) # here

The test driver is simply waiting for the other process(es) it spawned
to exit. If there was a failure to create the other process(es), then
I'd expect a test to die long before teardown. But if it did create
the other process(es), then I have no theory for why Linux waitpid()
would claim there are no child processes.

Maybe this is relevant (it's the only vaguely similar report I recall
seeing across years, but I don't think it reached a conclusion):

[Zope] Non-responsive folders

2005-08-16 Thread Garth B.
Hello everyone,

Python 2.3.4
Zope 2.7.3
Apache 2.0.46

I have a website that has been running flawlessly since late last year
sitting behind Apache using the usual rewrite rules. I've recently
started experiencing some folders becoming non-responsive when trying
to view them (e.g. http://www.someserver.com/somefolder). I can still
access most other folders without a problem. When I hit an offending
folder, I simply get no response and the browser just waits and waits.
I haven't been able to establish a pattern as to what's behind the
folders that might be causing the problem. On a clean start the
problematic folders usually respond normally for awhile, then stop.
So far, which folders stop responding are always the same.

Zope's event.log shows a number of the following in case it is relevant:

2005-08-16T13:50:35 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception,
closing channel
(socket.error:(104, 'Connection reset by peer')
[/var/tmp/python2.3-2.3.4-root/usr/lib/python2.3/asynchat.py|initiate_send|218]
[/usr/local/Zope/2.7.3/lib/python/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py|send|417]
[/var/tmp/python2.3-2.3.4-root/usr/lib/python2.3/asyncore.py|send|337])

The problem occurs sporadically enough that I haven't been able to
tell whether these lines from the event.log happen in conjunction with
a non-responsive folder.

I also see the occasional ZODB conflict error.

Interestingly enough I can directly view the offending folders without
a problem if I circumvent Apache (e.g.
http://zope.someserver.com:8080/website/somefolder). As far as I can
tell nothing has changed with my Apache configuration.

At first I thought that maybe something had gotten screwed up with my
Zope instance or data.fs (~1200MB), but since I can directly view the
offending folders without a problem by skipping Apache, I'm starting
to think otherwise. Restarting Zope *usually* temporarily clears the
problem.

Can anyone offer any suggestions for what might be going on or what
other evidence I can look for? As a possible solution, I'm hastily
preparing to upgrade to a more recent version of Zope, but I'd sure
like to know what's suddenly gone wrong (especially since upgrading
may not solve the problem).

Thank you!
Garth

[Zope] http post from java applet

2005-08-16 Thread Jeremiah White

I am looking at a product
from radinks.com that is an applet that allows you to drag and drop files into
the browser window and then uses HTTP post to upload.

In order to upload files,
though, you must be logged into my site.  Even after you have logged in,
the applet doesn't seem to have the authentication that the window in which it
is embedded has.

How can I make the applet
(or the script it calls) have the same privileges as the browser window it is
embedded in?

I can pass a parameter in as
a query string and I have done that to pass in _ZopeId.  I've been trying
to set the browser id in the script as that of the browser it is called from by
passing _ZopeId in the query string, but I'm having no luck.

I'm afraid I may be looking
in the wrong place now, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

when I cut and paste images to the directory it acts on but when I FTP
my images to this directory it fails giving me a 426 Error creating
file. My thinking is that the workflow may trying to use the image
before its data has arrived. I can FTP into the directory normally if I
temporarily change my workflow to act on a different directory - so
this verifies that the problem is between my workflow and FTP. Can
someone suggest a workaround to ensure the image is completely
available before the workflow tries to use it. I want to avoid any
kind of cron process in a big way as well. Many thanks,

Regards,
David
