Since it appears everything Zope-ish now runs on Python 2.5, what's
still stopping a release of Zope 2 and Zope 3 which recommends or
support Python 2.5?

I wouldn't say Zope 2 is fully ported over yet. We have a summer of code
project to make sure that Zope 2

I think it's pretty new; I had a checkout last week where I didn't get
any test failures.

It turned out to be spew that I've seen before only under certain circumstances:
if you're on a gentoo box and your $TERM env. var. is set to xterm,
then importing readline causes some non-printable characters to be
written to stdout.
