[Zope-dev] Zope2 ZMI and HTML5
Hi all, with HTML5 the frame-elements will die. It will probably take some years before the browser-support of HTML4 will stop, but still. Are there any alternative implementations for the Zope2-ZMI? There is a package zmi.core in the Zope-svn, but except some links to other packages there is nothing in it. Is the package alive and what's the targeted platform: Zope2, BlueBream, grok? -Tom ___ Zope-Dev maillist - Zope-Dev@zope.org https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope )

This is such a minor thing that if we do ever get to a stage where we're having to get rid of the frames it would just be a patch. I never use frames in the ZMI myself, I just hit manage_main Matt ___ Zope-Dev maillist - Zope-Dev@zope.org https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope )

I'd very much expect the general purpose ZMI to vanish long before the first browsers stop supporting HTML4. If they'll ever do that, it will probably be another 10 years or more. I doubt anyone can tell what Zope 2.20 will look like or if it will exist at all ;-) Hanno ___ Zope-Dev maillist - Zope-Dev@zope.org https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce https://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope )

I have been working for zmi.core for several months and it is still under construction(sorry). The target was Zope3 and now it's BlueBream. Of course we can use it for grok. Zope2's ZMI is different. I'd say that removing all the dtml from zope2 is too much. I know that there are many web sites which have used dtml for a long time. And also dtml works quite well without any serious problems.
