I don't notice any performance differences, but I also have to say that I can't measure it really. The more important is that it doesn't crash anymore! Is this a *final* solution for the crashing? Or is this just a temporary solution to make sure where the problem is? No, you don't need to explicitly call gc.disable() as the supplied ZServerPublisher.py already does that. Also, there's currently no way to tune the amount or the frequency of garbage collection that'll take place. Garbage collection will run in full whenever other Zope worker threads are not... well... working.
