OPEN-SOURCE DEVELOPERS TAKE STAND AGAINST WEBSPHERE | SearchDomino

IBM and Lotus are pushing WebSphere as a natural fit for developing
and deploying J2EE applications, but a group of open-source
developers has created a free platform to rival WebSphere. IBM
believes the free JBoss platform has shortcomings, but open-source
supporters are pleading with developers to give it a chance.

LOTUS EXECS PLEDGE SUPPORT TO DOMINO | eWEEK
In what amounts to the clearest sign yet that the future of Domino is
indeed bright, Lotus announced at IBM's developerWorks show yesterday
that it would keep supporting and enhancing the existing Domino
platform while offering separate paths for customers who wish to
embrace Java, Web services and other IBM technologies.

WHAT'S COMING FROM IBM POST-DOMINO 6? | Advisor
Executives said yesterday at IBM's developerWorks event that in the
near future developers can expect more Lotus QuickPlace and Sametime
modularity, Java APIs, and broader support for both the server-based
instant messaging protocol SIP and LDAP. Also, an upcoming rapid
application development (RAD) tool for Lotus J2EE components will be
based on the open-source Eclipse development environment.

DOMINO 6 PRE-RELEASE 2 AVAILABLE | Advisor
A new beta of Lotus Notes and Domino 6, known as Pre-Release 2, is
now available for download. IBM posted PR2, which was originally
scheduled for release before the end of April, three months after
PR1. Lotus officials also confirmed that the official release of
Domino 6 is still on schedule for the third quarter of 2002.

THE MISSING LINK | CA server makes soccer safer

A server and a soccer team are putting their heads together to work
toward a common goal -- to keep players in the game and off the
trainer's table. Not only is it Computer Associates' server, it's
CA's soccer team to boot!
