Well it's been a noteworthy week, with a few Lotus/IBM announcements and various reactions to them. Will there be layoffs? Will we see changes in the messaging arena with a new VP?
SearchDomino had another very successful live Webcast last Thursday with Lotus' Roy Bowen on J2EE. If you missed it, you can view the transcripts here. Stay tuned for Roy's follow-up Q&A; he'll be answering the remaining audience questions offline.
It will be interesting in the next couple of months to see where IBM and Lotus are going, with new information from the IBM developerWorks show, etc. We'll do our best to keep you abreast of the latest news, etc. You do your best to keep up the momentum and keep your job alive!
Speaking of jobs, take our new poll: What's your Domino/Notes career outlook like? And look for SearchDomino News Editor Eric Parizo's article this week on the Domino job market.

Help this user in the SearchDomino Developer Forum:
"I have an application where I am creating a news page combining the 10 latest news items in full on a single page. The news items are each held in a rich-text field in individual Notes documents and extracted from a view into 10 computed rich-text fields. This works, but I have one problem - most of the news stories contain a graphic, which does not get displayed."

Admin tip: Check those ACLs
By Ezzeddeen Jradi
When was the last time you checked the ACL of your names.nsf, catalog.nsf or any of the other files? Most likely, it hasn't been recently enough. We all agree that the Domino server provides several fields or methods to secure our server from intruders. But too often, those fields are left untamed. This tip is meant to be a reminder that simple actions can keep your systems safe.

Lotus developer domain: Change reaction?
Domino users are divided over IBM's recent decision to merge Notes.net and the Lotus Developer Network into a single site. Lotus believes the new Lotus Developer Domain will be a more comprehensive resource, but some users feel the new site's goal is to serve as a marketing platform for IBM.
